xi with a flat tire??

anyone have exp with flat tire with xi?? what are you using for a spare??

I recently had a flat tire on my aftermarket 19 inch wheels

,, and instead of just putting on my stock 18 inches in the front,, i switched all of them,,,because i thought it might mess up the awd,,

so any inputs on how to deal with this kinda stuff will be greatly appreciated

Well, you did the right thing by switching all of them. Two different sized tires = bad for awd. Personally I don't carry a spare (and I don't have RFT's). It's a risk, but I really don't want to put a wheel in the trunk. I just pay a little extra on the insurance for good roadside/towing service if this happens to me.

Just ran over a nail a few days ago... Ordered 4 hancook ventus v12s, done with runflats.

I got rid of RFT for a set of Conti DWS. Had one blow out due to large pot hole not too far from home before I got a mini-spare (like the bav auto kit). That blow out was temp fixed with tire snot and limped home. I now carry mini spare kit + tire snot & tools + mini compressor. No flats since.

BTW Conti has free road hazard warranty if less than 12 months and less than 2/32 wear. So I got a free replacement tire.

Too bad they don't have a mileage warranty - nice handling tires, but I only got 7k miles out of the rear set with a staggered setup - which after calling DiscountTire - I was told it is normal in our cars to get half the mileage out of the rear tires with a staggered setup

And apparently, none of the tires that even have a mileage warranty will honor any type of claim if you use a staggered setup...

Tire plug kit and mini compressor was surprisingly cheap @ walmart. That plus mini-spare package with jack etc. is my basic survival kit, no/few flat beds around here (remote SW colorado mtns) esp mid winter up high. Hope I never have to use it then but would hate to need it and not have it even more.

That's nuts...I've got at least 15k on mine, and I abuse mine like you can't believe (burnouts, drifts, etc), still have plenty of tread left.

Conti DWS are some of the best all season tires ever made IMO.

That's the way I feel about the General G-Max AS-03 all season tires... I think everyone just over looks them, but man are they a nice tire! They do great in all conditions, I was even plowing snow with my front bumper through my subdivision and never once got stuck! lol They work good in the rain too, and handle great on dry pavement... Unlike the weak sidewalls I hear people complain about with the Conti's, these G-Max's handle like a summer tire IMO...

And I've got 6k hard driven miles on them now and they still look great, so I think they're going to last awhile too

It's just a shame more people don't try them, especially over the Hankrap tires! lol

By "hankrap" I'm assuming youre attempting to make a parallel between the hancook tires I just got and low quality? Expound

I think he has DW, not DWS. DWS are 50k miles treadwear. Great tires for an all season and real good in snow. True year round tire with good performance. But not summer super sticky tires for sure.

Different sized wheels doesn't necessarily mean different rolling diameters. I use a 17 inch spare along with my 18 inch wheels. Had to use it twice. Rolling diameters are the same so no prob for the AWD!
