Sound differences between a 2007 E92 AT vs. 2009 E90 MT???
Recently traded in my 2007 E92 AT for a 2009 E90 MT. Love the new car but sounds a lot quieter....The E92 in sport mode made some burble (if that is a word). The E90 just sounds muted even in first gear and reved... Any ideas as what is the reason for this????
Someone in this forum told me that the reason for this was that the E92 has an H pattern type pipe whre the E90 does not. Is this the reason?

E90 has an extra muffler/resonator while e92 has only x pipe

Might be a stupid question, but is it possible to do an E92 conversion on the E90?

If I put an xpipe instead of the factory resonator would that cause any dronning?
What's the reason in the first place for this additional factory resonator in the e90?

E90 has resonators, E92 doesn't. I was actually disappointed when I drove my E90 off from the dealer's lot. It was luxury car silent. It didn't actually sound decent til I cut the secondary cats with resonator intact.

Would removing my cats....in addition to removing my resonator makes a difference? Thought cats were more for fog tests???
So, some of you recommend no cats, no resonator but w mufflers. Others recommend no resonator but sith cats and mufflers. If removing the cats makes a difference, i'll try it if it sounds right.
