I recently my DPF removal/remap done by Ecotune in Glasgow - feels like a completely new car, I can't recommend it enough. I paid similar to what you've been quoted, I reckon that's near enough the going rate. Enjoy!

Only downside is some smoke, standard car doesn't do
It. With out a DPF it does. That's the only downside. Upside is a nicer sound and more HP

Ahh ok, interesting.. so why don't more and more people get DPF delete if that's the only downside or .. is it just that some may not be aware of this 'mod'? Is there a right time in a car's lifespan to do DPF delete or.. just interested to know if its something someone like myself to consider as I'm still a noob in mods lol.

I didn't want to butcher mine when I had a 335d. Not many people had done it to 335d's at that point. It was big with other marque's though.
If I had another 335d I'd consider it. But would want to see how much it would smoke. For me it's awful seeing high end diesel cars smoke. Hence why BMW fitted one in the first place.

I'll be leaving mine well alone, along with the swirl flaps. But only until the warranty runs out. Then they are for the boot.

im not sure the smoke is that bad, before i got my car i was looking at the audi a4 3.0tdi and seen quite afew vids of them with dpfs removed and not that much smoke, and if u check the n57/m57 section under aftermarket exhaust topic i posted couple vids also with no dpf/cats and full systems, not much smoke.
the guy from angel tuning said they can tune the car to not produce much more smoke with a good remap. |

Had the dpf delete done on mine & smoke is not an issue even with a remap.
Only time I see smoke is booting it after tootling around for days on end. |

I've seen a few people mentioning the 'diesel smog' - It's barely noticeable on mine other than some build up on the exhaust tips after a weeks use or so. |

PMW in Chelmsford did mine, they use Ecotune's pipe and maps. Result was quite spectacular and mine had already been re-mapped by emaps beforehand.
There is some smoke at full throttle but other than that it appears clean, interesting to note that if you use something like Millers diesel additive a lot of smoke is produced most of the time! I only had mine done because the dpf blocked and subsequently split before I could get it in to be cleaned, if this hadn't happened I would probably have kept it in place. Ian |

Just got mine booked in for next sat, getting DPF replaced with stainless downpipe and mapped, he says they get about 369bhp with it removed and map on.
I was concerned about possible gearbox weakness but he reassured me and told me his x5 has same unit and engine and his is mapped and often tows a 2.5 ton boat and floors it regulary without a flinch.... I am thinking of opting for the hand held PnP unit so car will run standard map most of time (when other half drives it) and when i go play i can put the power map on. |
