High mileage E92 330i
Hi guys,
Originally put this in the non turbo technical thread but figured this might be a wiser place to post as it's a bit of a ghost town in there!! Ha ha. I'm travelling up to London to see a 2009 330i Manual Sport on the weekend. It is approaching 80k so was just wondering if there is anything specific to lookout for around that mileage? Appreciate most things come down to use and how well it's been looked after but wondered if there were any components which are known to fail around 80k? Or anything which should have been changed before now? Thanks. Martin. |

I'd be looking for a full BMW S/H at that age, general wear and tear, brakes, tyres...take it on a twisty drive to feel if anything doesn't seem right with suspension but tbh it's probably just run in at 80k! lol.
Not fancy a 325i auto with padles, 13500miles on an 09?

Thanks for the offer but im specifically looking for a 330i with manual.
Thanks for the info that's really helpful. So there aren't any parts which are going to need to be changed in the next 10k i.e water pump etc? (excluding usual wear and tear like brakes etc.) |

Tell me about it!! Been looking since January and only just found a decent one!
I currently have an E46 330ci sport manual and I'm a bit stuck in my ways so reluctant to switch to a auto..... |

i think the engines are pretty bombproof, i bought mine with 79k on the clock and its been faultless the last 20k miles.
a cat could go at anytime and on any car. |

330i manual - good choice
Mine's a pre-LCI so obviously slightly different, but my 57-plate 330i had 76k miles when I bought it last month. I can't notice ANY slack or wear in the car whatsoever. Not sure on condition of the bushes but the suspension certainly feels great to me. |

these engines are typically pretty solid. Our old E46 328 6 cylinder went on to do over 150k miles. My 2001 330i was strong right through 89k and beyond. And my current E90 325i is sitting at 64k miles, and feels like a brand new car.
As long as the history checks out, and the car drives good, I wouldnt worry about these engines. A 6 cylinder BMW petrol engine, if looked after, should be able to pass 200k without much maintenance. |

Just hitting 100k here on an n52 e90.
My only problems have been.. an engine warning light on and off at about 80k. Solved with a tin of Gb44k. Mines been run on v power for last 70k. My local Indy reckons problems are worse, if they are run on supermarket basic unleaded and he wholeheartedly recommends them to be run on vpower for all of their life. so worth asking what the car has been run on. I had a fuel leak when brimmed, near the top of the filler cap, which is quite common. It wasn't a simple job and cost a few quid in labour. It happens if the tank is always brimmed until the pump clicks apparently. In total, the above combined cost under 300 quid to fix. Apart from that, It hasn't so much as farted. Just regular , recommended servicing and tyres and a new set of brake pads at 80k. They are very nice cars with sensational engines. |
