Confused about my navi

Hey guys,

I found out yesterday that my cars build date was in 2010. I bough it in 2012. It was just leftover and discovered by lucky me. However, I thought I would have the most updated CIC. I want to know how I can get connected drive, show album covers, etc on my navi? Do I need a combox? or do I just update the software? where can I do this? And how much would I e expecting to spend for unnecessary but "better" features? Thanks!!
