From c-bus Ohio with 51k miles. Just put Cobb AP on my 07 335xi and getting a slight hesitation when WOT.

Anyone in Columbus or Ohio for that matter gotten the walnut blast performed at a dealer or shop in our area?

I know Kelly BMW doesn't have a walnut blasting machine. I think MAG does but charges a ton for it. Called several independent shops in the area who didn't even know what it was or swore i didnt need it before i gave up searching. If you find someone, i'd be interested as well. Maybe get a group buy or something going.

Ya I'll keep you posted. I'm waiting to hear back from Sigma technologies in Hillard and IPS in Lewis center.

Kelly has the walnut blaster adapter for the N54. They use it all the time. The tech that works on my car has done a bunch of them already.

When i called he didn't even know what it was. Which 'service provider' do you talk to?

the service advisors hardly know about it. All BMW dealers have the tool as do the mini dealers. They won't quote you until they have the car. I will my advisor and find out. I know the guys don't like doing it since it makes a mess and dust half the shop.

I just got off the phone with My SA at Kelly. Confirmed that they do the walnut shell blasting for our cars. He will let the other advisors know since not many folks have called about it. They usually do it when a car is in for service and it's the carboned up valves that's the problem with the car. No one has just come in and asked for it yet.

Ya I've called before to get a quote and the SA at Kelly said he didn't have that equipment.

Were you able to get a $$ range from him? Even though I'm CPO'd they probably won't cover it yet as its not bad enough to cause any lights or codes to be stored.

Usually not covered unless it is verified that carbon is the problem. Trying to find out a price range, but not cheap.

I've heard @ $850 if not covered by BMW NA but getting the dealer to quote you is like pulling teeth. Most SA's act like they have never heard of the tool.

Well I've struck out with all the local Columbus shops. Either declined to do that work or claimed it would be $2-3k!

Dealers down here are no help either.

Anyone had any better luck in the Ohio area?

Pretty much. The 2 dealerships in Columbus wanted between 700-850 and no local Indy shops seemed familiar enough with the work I was describing to quote me accurately.

Seems Chicago owners really luck out with VS being pretty close to them.

Turn In Concepts in Fairfield area.

They are primarily a Subaru shop, but their lead mechanic/half owner has owned/worked on a ton of BMW's. They work on all kinds of stuff.

He did my 335i for a LOT less than that. Just call them up and talk to them. They charge actual labor, but I'd guess it'd be around half that, maybe $400 if it took a while.

Tony does all my mod installations, from LSD, suspension, exhaust, intake cleaning, etc....
