Black cars. How often do you wash?
Well, It seems ever since I got my 335i I've been washing it waaaay more than my other cars. It happens to be jet black, and it seems as soon as I wash it a few days later there is a layer of dust on the car. I hate driving dirty cars and lately I've been keeping track of when I wash my cars.
The 335i is my daily driver and it's garaged at night. I wash it every 3-4 days. 5 days if I don't have time, but at 5 days it is really dusty/ dirty. My rx8 (also black) gets washed every 2 weeks. (It's garaged and I rarely drive it) Wifes e46 325i (teal) gets washed every two weeks also. But this car seems to stay clean a LOT longer than the other 2. I know the 335i and the rx8 are black so you can see more dust/dirt on them but I can't stand to drive a dirty car. Hence the bmw washing every 3-4 days. For me it's worth it because there's nothing like a black car when it's clean. What color is your car and how often do you wash it?

Black, every saturday morning. It sucks to drive a dirty car, but it sucks even more having to wash it more often, as it makes it impossible for it to be a routine thing.

Too often and shows too many marks and water spots... next car is silver or a dark gray. you get the dark look and less maintenance.

I try to wash my jet black E90 every weekend. The worst part is the back under the license plate. The rest of the car will look great, but the buildup there is awful.
It has been 3 weeks since I last washed mine, but it won't stop raining, so I don't want to waste my time. There is a car wash service that comes to my company's garage every Thursday. They do a good job and know how to not leave swirls, so paying $25 every once in awhile is worth it.

I agree 100%. I also said after my last black car that I wouldn't buy another, but black looks soooo good when clean.

Jet Black here and I wash at least once a week. Don't you risk washing the wax right off it if you wash every 3-4 days?

Yeah, it doesn't snow here, so my car is somewhat clean in the winter.

I have a black car that's more often dirty/dusty than clean. However, I have one of those dusting "brushes" that are a soft cloth that is treated with a type of wax (I forget the name). They do a really good job of cleaning off any light dust picked up by normal driving after I wash the car. They don't clean up bird poop, or water spots, but they are good to "extend" that clean car look for another 2-3 days, until a bird eventually finds my car, or I drive through a puddle.

I give my cars a full corrective detail once a year, and weekly washing for my E90 (unless it's raining). If I had the time I would probably wash the damn thing every day, rain or shine. I love the way Jet Black looks when it's clean, but it's a bitch to keep it looking nice. I may have the car wrapped soon, which would cut down on the washing frequency a bit.
I wish the paint wasn't so soft so I could just do the cheap drive-through washes, but they absolutely destroy my paint. I've gotten really good at hand-washing though, so it takes 15 minutes or so.

I use to wash my car every week but I'm getting tired of it & I always see bird droppings. It's not easy to remove it especially when it's dry & hard. I think birds like to drop on black cars becauce at my work place, there are only two black cars & both always have bird droppings...I will wrap my car with vinyl so I don't need to wash my car anymore, I will just use dust wiper & no more swirl marks.

nothing is worse than bsm after it snows or rains and you get those run off marks that say "so what i still drove my 400whp rwd car in the snow". the back of the car is just disgusting after. anyway, i wash ever 3 days because its usually dirty after 3 days off DD. the longest the car went without a wash in my ownership was the 9 days i was on vacation and had to drive the truck into work.
