Wow Ecotune!
Wow ecotune…..
Well just had a lovely visit to ecotune. Was booked in for Saturday for dpf removal and remap, but was at a loose end yesterday so phoned stan at about 10 and asked if there was any chance he could squeeze me in. He got back to me and said he has managed to get me a slot at 3pm. So I immediately set off on the 100 mile journey and got there with 30 mins to spare so we managed to get car for dyno run before car was away to get downpipe fitted. Sam and I were happy as it made what it was supposed to and seemed a very healthy engine. Car got taken away by sam to his local trusted bmw specialist to get downpipe fitted and DPF removed as he had no space/time to do it at one of his workshops. Meanwhile I was made to feel at home in his new central heated, sound proofed lounge area. Coffee and sweets on tap along with a fridge to help yourself to bottled water or cans of pop. Even offered me a burger king which I foolishly refused as I sat the next HOUR watching him eat it. It was a couple of hours wait but had a 42” tv on wall and remote in my hands all was well but Stan was more than happy to chat about cars and share his knowledge. Car returned sounding a lot more throaty and nice turbo spool a lot more vocal. Stan copied ecu file and started going through it on laptop and tweaking it all to a safe level and customising it all to suit. Decided on the hand held unit so can change between 2 maps. As I am sharing car with missus so no need on it to be at its peak safe map through week. So after he changed everything he wanted to we plugged it into port on car and uploaded the ecotune first, very simple to do and pretty fail safe took all of a few minutes. That map made 294bhp atw so all was good! Then he uploaded the maxitune and he dyno’d that which made 314bhp atw. So very impressed with figures. So it was test drive time… Sadly it damp to say the least but Stan gave it WOT a few times to make sure everything was ok and my god does it shift, its ridiculous. And sounds soo much better almost like a petrol variant, certainly from inside the cabin. If you have any doubts or queries then I would suggest giving eco tune a call yourself am sure your needs will be filled! Thanks Stan heres some pics ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Impressive figures Fella, and a cracking looking car.
That torque figure would worry the life out of me though, but I guess as it would be run on the lower of the two maps the majority of the time,it will be OK.

that is impressive results there, I am considering getting rid of my dpf once it fails as I cant be bothered to keep worrying about having to do long trips to ensure dpf regens

Nice write up Jamie, glad you're happy. Was nice to get a 335d Touring in as they are very few and far between.. particularly healthy example also as it was making slightly more torque stock than most.
That TV is a 47" ![]() ![]() As of interest, did you manage to get decent MPG on the way home or are you still in the honeymoon period ![]() I look forward to hearing your thoughts on a dry summers afternoon... I should say it will still spin those wheels though ![]() |

Glad your happy. 314HP at the wheels is A little optimistic,
360HP at the fly is more like 290 at the wheels!! Unless the dyno was 20HP over the top.

Only had maxitune on and mpg doesnt seem to have been any better or worse but like you say still the honeymoon period. And having a wee play with a vxr8 on way home proved fun ![]() I was out today in it and set cruise at 75 for 40 miles and averaged 49.3 mpg but thats a speed i struggle to sit at tbh. |

Ecotune - do you have any resellers or dealers throughout the country, or just your base in Scotland?
DPF delete is a certainty for me, but the drive from the Midlands to Scotland and back again is putting me off ![]()

Love to know what the figures can be like on a 325d with MPG etc.
Getting mythered at the moment to have my car dyno'd local because my mates organised a meet but I dont see the point if ive currently got no money to have the car mapped yet.

We also took great measures when developing our kits to ensure that we were not tied to a local market and in fact provide DPF removal kits to customers as far as Australia. Coming to the Glasgow workshop I like to think is a nice day out and the whole dyno/tuning experience we hope is entertaining to those who are really interested in the process though by no means essential and the same high quality product is available via the good old post! Best wishes, Stan ![]() |

Now i have seen what i have seen and experienced if i lived otherside of country i would still rather travel to ecotune as you are in very safe knowledgable hands! What alot of people might not understand is that stan develops the maps himself and doesnt just buy generic maps and overwrite the ecu. |

Take the m57n2 330d with the same box which is also available in manual. Run them consecutively and there is nothing in it. Theory busted :-)

These dyno debates always seem to start when good figures are reported, a bit over my head tbh, will leave that to the people in the know to argue it out..
All i know is car drives awesome and is almost as quick as a 6.2 v8 vxr8..... |
