Need Definitive Feedback On Foglight HID For 330...

Sup guys,

I recently purchased a set of canbus HiD's for my foglights from an eBay seller who promised no issue/error free. I know what your gonna say, however the seller was recommended and after several discussions with the seller, i opted to give it a shot. Unfortunately, after two different set's of Canbus HID's and multiple tries the HID's gave me both an error and at times they flickered and shut off, even after trying a capacitor.

Since then, in my search I've read what seems like countless posts and while most were informative, because of the different model bimmer's I was left wondering which set can I purchase that would guarantee, no error, no flicker and no issue. I understand that the e90 330 present a challenge in this area. Ive also read somewhere that the vehicle production date may play a role when purchasing HID's. Therefore, I am reaching out to my fellow 330 owners who have purchased and have positive experience with Foglight HID's in hopes that they can provide clear definite feedback on which plug & play HID (preferebly 5000k) I can purchase that will offer me, no error, no flicker and no issues.

As always your feedback is greatly appreciated.

Can you have the bulb check coded out?
Check the coding section.

There's a thread somewhere on here I believe about adding a capacitor somewhere in the wiring. But you'd need to have knowledge of soldering or someone that can solder. Or as said above you can try to get the bulb check coded out.

Is that common? Is that the only way?

There aren't any straight plug and play HID's out there for a 330?

You need to code out the bulb check to get rid of the errors and use NETTODAT coding to modify the PWM voltage output to the fogs to get rid of the flickering/shutting off.

hello. i ahve an early model 2007 335i, im sure yours is some what simliar.

i cant give you a definitive answer but here is what i did for working fogs. of course i got them in and they work fine(when car is not on) when car is on, it will throw a code and they shut off. thats expected.

Thankfully, andrey aka onebadmofo aka andrey @ autocouture coded my fog light out. so cool no more bulb out light. but fogs still turn off. You now need a resistor/ error canceler. that will then KEEP the fogs on and wont throw code. Thing is im not sure if you have to code anything if you have an error canceler cable (Not all error canceler cables work).

Thanks for the feedback guys. Just to confirm, are we saying that my car MUST be coded in order for my 330 to have working HID foglights?

What about the HID sets I've seen advertised on the forum claiming to be error free? They make no mention about having to code the car.

Dominus, do you recall what brand and where it was purchased?

Is it this one?

http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DD...ast-35W-or-55W

They're asking me to choose Wattage, HID Harness & Error Eliminator?

It's almost as if I'm creating my own HID

That's it. My fogs have 55w but they are way overkill ha ha just order the bulb in whatever color you want, I chose 6000k and then choose your ballast wattage then get the error eliminator, no need for the relay harness, our wires are strong enough.

Unfortunately for an 06 330 XI or I it isn't that simple. These cars are difficult to find successful HID's. Hence, why I posted the question for assistance from fellow 330 owners.

I reached out to ddmtuning and received a response just a few hours ago. Unfortunately, they cannot guarantee I will not have the same issues.

I simply would like to know, from my brethren who currently own a 2006 330 and have successfully installed HID's in their foglights without any issues or necessary coding, what brand are they & where were they purchased?
