Swapping for winter tires... is this wrong?

I just leased a 328i with 17" style 160 wheels. It's a 3 year lease. I live in Canada and will definitely NEED winter shoes on this car. As it is a lease, I would much prefer to buy a set of winter tires and just mount these on the OEM rims. Next summer, I would remove them and remount the OEM RFT's.

If I were keeping this car long term, I would likely buy a set of winter rims to mount the winter tires on but as it is going back in 3 years, I just can't justify the cost (well should I say my wife can't justify the cost). Anyway, I guess me question is is this a really bad thing to do? I know the mounting costs each winter will be higher but other than that and the additional wear/tear on the leased rims, is it a problem.

P.S. As an aside, I may have a line on a set of used rims and tires but for now, let's just ignore that

I'm not sure if it's wrong...but this means you need to switch tires 6 times...that gets pretty pricey and tedious.

Even if you got a second set of winter tires you could at least sell them at the end of the lease and recover some of the cost...so it won't be that bad. There's a guy in the Canadian forum that is selling winter tires and ASA JH3 rims which are quite good.

I would go with 16's for winter, you can get a set of 156 for cheap in the sale section.

I don't believe that it is good to take off run flats and then remount them. I agree about buying some inexpensive replica wheels and snow tires for you winter set up. Something that you can resell at the end of the lease(Velocity Motoring). That way you can get the winter set up but recoup some of the cost of the wheels at lease end.
