certainly will be hit badly when the 320xD F31 gets launched - which is probably why BMW UK are only releasing the 320xi this side of winter and the threat of any white stuff, because I'm sure it will steal sales away from the X1.

I've driven quite a few X1's and as a "run around" where they get dirty and used on dirt tracks, dogs, kids mud etc etc they're very capable and there are some incredible bargins out there.

Some colours make the car look better and in others I agree it ain't the prettiest of cars

I think they look nice.

But then I once went for a weekend away with my then new g/f and turned up in souvenir T-shirt, office pants and sandals, with a shopping bag for luggage.

Even the salesman I know well in my local BMW dealership can't understand why they were built and sees them as a waste of space in the range.

But they do sell and they do hold their value well. Having never driven one I couldn't comment on that, but they also filled a gap between the old 1 Series and the 3 Series. I see the greater preacticality of the new 1 Series have the most impact, in particular on S Drive sales.

Drove one as a loaner some time back, drives like a One series.

Like the X6, completely pointless car that sells well... fool and their money!

It might sell well because it's not "completely pointless". To you and your needs perhaps it is but to others perhaps not. My wife has a 120d MSport but our dog is getting a bit big for the boot area so is considering an X1 where the boot is a bit bigger and more accessible for the dog. Does that make her a fool?

+1

I can think of several reasons why I'd own one.
