I believe that the program update has to be done AFTER the alarm is installed. Their software installation process READS the car so it knows what options are installed and loads software accordingly.

If you install the alarm yourself, make sure you call around to get a quote on Activation. The alarm will work after you install it, but you won't get it fully function (sounds). If they quote you over 1 hour of labor...dont' do it.
