Good job!
A few things I noticed. Why are you using a line output converter? Since you recoded to hifi you have low level balanced outputs from the head unit, which that JL amp accepts. Also since the outputs from the head unit are not speaker level, why are you powering the rear speakers off the head unit? |

Nice documentation what's your channel assignment?
Nice documentation what's your channel assignment?
Did you wire the under seats to the sub channel if so are they in series. What was the logic for channel assignment and choosing the xd 700/5 over e the xd 600/6 ? Just more power? I'm wondering if the Technic Harness favors a left hand steering wheel setup over a right one , or if it even makes a difference. Where did you get those speakers as I have never seen them advertized any where? Last edited by ctuna; 08-06-2012 at 01:19 PM.. |

Looks nice, congrats on all the upgrades!
Are the tweeters, mids and woofers the same ones you showed me the other week? They did feel well built, but I might pop over again and to have a listen! By the way when me and B3M33R installed my first upgrade, we had the exact same problem as you. The HU was a right bitch to get back in (cut up hands included) and the harness could have been a bit longer. But i suppose it worked out ok in the end for us, so no qualms. |

The LOC was used as it was about a week till I had the HiFi coding procedure done. So at that stage it was running via base setup. I'm sure I can take the LOC out though. The rear speakers were taken out of being amplified as they would only end up being very forward faded with my little one in the back. I originally planned to run a 4 channel in tri-mode i.e. fronts and the subs with rears through as speakers via stereo as rearfill only. Quote:
I used the XD 700/5 as it had been sat on the shelf for a while, I also have some TRU Tech and Mosconi amps aswell but they are all 2 CH, this one seemed to fit in in terms of physical size. If I had a 3 or 4 channel that would have been thrown in. Speakers are from Germany. Quote:
The harness really was a nightmare, least i'm not the only one who thinks a few more inch's wouldn't go a miss |

Who sells the speakers?
Who sells the speakers?
And what are there costs and specs? Do they come with the factory connectors and the necessary mounting adaptors or are they a perfect fit? |

The speakers and all the cabling is complete minus that for the subs. All you need is the OEM speaker connector to connect to the input of the crossover. Elias provided this for me so it was just simply joined to make it all OEM with just 1 plug. The mids fit perfectly. The tweeters grip OK and won't move with the addition of the foam cell, but I'm never one to cut corners so little strip of duct tape just to keep my mind at rest should it ever dislodge and drop (which would mean taking it all apart) The subs simply dropped in, I reckon you could change them without even removing the enclosures, I just pulled them out because I wanted to have a nose lol. Thank you. I shouldn't imagine it to be so, depends what you have as stock you might have some difference in your wiring but for something like what I have done the Audio Systems will fit no problems. I know of another dealer who did the same in a customers E92 with great results. -- Also as a side note there are no hard feelings on the Technics harness, it works great. Elias is very proffesional and I would not hesitate to use him again! Thanks. |

I believe the Audio System 3-way system is available through at least one vendor on this board (it may not be an official vendor though...).

Very good write up. Neat and clean installation.
Mr Singh few things if you like to conisder: 1- Take LOC out and see if that make any difference as suggester earlier. 2- I hope you have tweaked your gains after 'hi-fi' coding and calibrated it with SMD DD-1. If you are taking LOC out, you may need to check your gains again. You have mentioned about getting mid range sound spectrum after 'hi-fi' coding. Can you spot any other difference? I am interested to hear your opinion on it as you have been in this industry for a while now. Also you mentioned that you did not want to change rears because of little one, however your plan is to add sub in trunk. Does not make sense to me TBH. I am in similar situation like you, and I kept everything front stage focused. Rear is quiet and there is a reason for it (little one). You may add sub with remote swith / amp to it and turn it off when you are with your little one. Indeed it needs to be sticky, as it is unique. Considering other drivers options in the market, shall I put pros and cons of Audio-Systems X-ION 200 BMW 3 way kit? Pros: 1- All in one place. You get tweeters, mids and subs in one package. 2- Easy to install as they are designed to go into OEM spaces. 3- Good price. Getting all that in $400 is steal IMO. Cons: I could not think of any except power range (RMS) is less compared to other available drivers. But considering 3 pros to 1 con, they are worth of upgrading to replace OEM drivers. Feel free to correct me / add yours if you wish so. I would love to hear mob17 and your sound system one day if I pass by and compare all of them including mine. Taibanl, can you add this to your sticky post as 'All in one drivers' sound system?

Hi, I know this is old, but I'm about to do a similar upgrade from base audio to Audio System X-ION 3-way kit.
Main question I have is regarding the tweeter housings/sails. Did they come with the foam insert, or is that a separate part that also has to be purchased? |

I've done an E90 and E91 and they both already had the cut outs in the foam. My current E92 didnt. If you check real oem you can find out what you have. |
