sytner solihull service request

hello guys new to the forum so not sure if i have even posted this in the right section, so I am looking to purchase a 335D M SPORT saloon pre-facelift, the one I have my eye on was purchased from sytner soulihal. The car doesnt have a service booklet instead it has a service print out from lex auto lease (first owners I'm assuming). I thought id try digging the service out, as the service print out paper looks pretty easy to copy and play about with. I called sytner soulihull they first put me on hold for a very long time and said someone would get back to me a day passed no return calls. Eventually when I got through gave the registration the guy insisted the car must have had a PP hence its details maybe under a different reg I immediately insisted he was swinging me a bullshit line as I hpi checked the car and no PP had ever been registered to the car. He replied dou have the VIN. I did so I gave this as well and then he swung me another bull shit line of our systems had changed in 2006/2007 so the details maybe lost in the system. I then said so when did this system roughly finish going through the funny stages he insisted it was fine in early 2007. I said this is all rather strange considering the car was registered december 2006 so its first service would have been half way through 2007 if driven a fair bit or in late 2008 he then said he would call me back after he looked into it, eventually i gave up on bmw and tried to call lex autolease they insisted they would not give any details of the cars service history over apart from stating whether what i had on the print out was correct however this doesnt allow me to check it as the operator could agree to everything i say down the phone. just wanted to know does anyone know why they wont hand over the cars services it has had and if there is a way to make them tell you ? either bmw or lex autolease ?

Whilst it's probably fine, I would walk away. Clearly if you have these challenges now, you will have problems selling the car. It sounds like you are a victim of 'computer says no', and Syntner are being less than helpful. Does the print say the car was serviced by Syntner or just supplied by them?

You could try ringing the BMW Service History line, but it is a premium rate number. The number is 0906 209001, (£1 per min). They will confirm which BMW dealerships the car has been serviced at.

By the sounds of your post, I personally would walk away from the car as it seems Sytner are not being very helpful.

put it this way. Look at the trouble you are going through to get the history.... What happens when you sell?

This is a main stream saloon, not a rare supercar, move on to another.

The only doubt im having is whether the service of the car is actually what it is stating to be, the print out is from lex auto lease and states it has been serviced at synter soulihal and was purchased from this dealer, LEX auto lease said they would confirm any details I had on the service print out but its just a piece of paper headed lex auto lease which to be honest any tom dick or hassan could copy and change numbers around, A mate said just ring Lex auto lease and say was it service at 1 mile and keep going up eventually they may just tell you when and where it was serviced instead of clarifying the details. loool. To be honest iv test drove the car it is faultless immaculate, also the engine bay is so clean no leaks etc really looks like its been looked after, no strange wear or tear across seats or steering wheel as iv seen other cars on auto trader same miles and clearly car is showing wear and tear signs of way over 100k! Has all the m sport extras xzennons auto lights and factory tints.

i remember before you could request to purchase a copy of the service booklet from bmw and they would give you the booklet with any services done at bmw however every page had copy in faint across the background or something to make it clear this wasnt the original as it was lost. if i could get that i wouldnt mind purchasing the car.

I have a mate who works at scania he said they could clearly search through the archives to find records of the car however they most likely aren't for some apparent reason. thanks raj59 for the number going to try giving them a call.

It seems that you've just been fobbed off by an unhelpful dealership. As you seem you be happy-ish with the car so far,it might be worth sticking with it for a while. At least until proven otherwise.
Anyway, wouldn't the same info be available via any Sytner dealership network.Oldbury have been quite helpful to me in the past.A personal visit will probably get you a better response.
I don't know where the car that you're looking at is,but the key itself holds vehicle history. and is accessed via a key reader that service departments have on their desks.
If you was to be able to take this into a dealership, the service department may be able to answer a few questions-I did this myself without any issues...

mogly,

I'm in Solihull today and about 5 mins from Sytner. Happy to go and talk to them directly on your behalf if you want to send me the details of what you need/want.

Cheers
Matt

From what I understand, all BMW dealerships cannot bring up the service history of work that has been done at other BMW dealerships.

For example, Sytner would only hold information and records of work done at any of its Sytner dealerships. If a car was serviced at Park Lane at some point in the past for example, then Sytner would not have a record of this, and visa versa.

The op did say that he was told that the car was serviced at Sytner Solihull which is who he contacted about its service history.

And therefore,if information isn't forthcoming at Sytner Solihull,it maybe from another Sytner dealership...
