Went to LACR--Not too Shabby

For those of you who don't know about LACR, the elevation is pretty high (2,710 ft) and the winds are wicked.
I went there hoping just to get into the 13s because of my recent visits there with other cars. It could be sometimes very disappointing.

These were the mods that I went there with:

Turbo Tuner
Magnaflow mufflers and no secondary cats

Everything else was stock -- Street tires, and 91 octane
I had a 5 gallon drum of 100 Octane but decided not to use it that night.
I asked a guy if he could watch it for me so I don't weigh down my car and he ended up steeling it.:mad: (You gotta love Palmdale)

So, my first pass was 13.9--Cool! I did it! I went there with just braking into the 13s and I was happy I did it. Now I can just improve.

My second pass was with an STI. I got a fairly descent start and shifted pretty well and ran a 13.8 and he ran a 15.5. He and around 8 friends ran up to me because they couldn't believe that my car was that quick. They were calling it a sleeper.

There were at least 6 STIs there that night and not one of them got into the 13s.

So, I ran 13.8 a couple times and it was time for another run. I looked over to my right and up ahead and saw a brand new Mercedes CLS 55 AMG. I talked with him for a bit and we thought it would be a great idea if we raced, so we did. I knew the power numbers on that thing so I was only looking to get a really good start and have a great reaction time, and I did. My friends in the bleachers said that it was the race of the night. When we took off, you could see everyone drop what they were doing to watch us. When we started, everybody was looking to se if the AMG was going to catch me since I did pop out ahead of him. He didn't. I beat him by .001 seconds.

Yup, Palmdale is incredibly slow. V8 S4 Audis were running in the 15's, and E39 M5s ran mid 14's. And yes, I ran a SL55 and beat him once, and some of my runs were quicker than some of those of the CLS63 AMG. But just as in your case, they had much better top end pull. The 335i has great launch and bottom end torque/gearing. My first race that day was against a Porsche Turbo, which I beat. Not bad for a stock, steptronic sedan. By the way..the SL55 put some different rear wheels/tires on for the track. Here are the runs that I witnessed. (Mine are in bold type): I would sure like to know what the stock 6.0L GTOs and C6 Corvettes, GT500s are running up there, did you see any?

Wow!
I would say that is incredibly fast for stock 335s running those times.
You had to at least have drag radials on.

There was a GTO that ran a 14.5, and I didn't see any vettes there.

It was on stock runflats. I believe they only had 28psi in them. Just drove around the waterbox, and let the car shift by itself in sport mode. Did you happen to notice if the GTO that you saw was a 6.0L?

I can only go on weekends..But possibly going next weekend...I think its the last weekend before they shut the place down. My coworker wants to bring his 6.0L GTO with an APS twin turbo setup. (542RWHP I believe).

Next weekend is going to be the very last weekend.

I was asking about wednesday since there are going to be a group of guys meeting at the 2 and the 210.

I can't go next week. Once every so often is good with me since the drive is kind of far. I live in Huntington Beach.

Anyway, I was looking to see what people next week are going to run so I can put my 335 times in perspective.
I thought I did well until I saw your numbers.

Just drove around the waterbox, and let the car shift by itself in sport mode. Did you happen to notice if the GTO that you saw was a 6.0L?

My coworker wants to bring his 6.0L GTO with an APS twin turbo setup. (542RWHP I believe).
