Beat the dead horse: JB4 to Vishnu. Who's done it?
Let me preface by saying that, on paper, I know both tunes are comparable. I know the features. I know the prices, etc. This isn't another thread about who's better, pros and cons or any of that crap. I've looked up and down, so please...keep the BS "search the forum bro" or "google it bro", comments to a minimum.
I'm looking for people who've ACTUALLY gone from a JB4 to Vishnu PROcede Rev3 on a FBO (or close to FBO) N54. I also welcome people who've done the opposite. A big +, but not required, would be if you've done this while running meth and/or E85/93 mixes or you have a 1-series. I want to know why you did it and you're experience/analysis. |

i've had vishnu. and i've had cobb. and i've had jb4. and i've had a custom dyno tuned flash. and i've had GIAC. lol i am always so indecisive. if you're stuck on going with a piggyback, go vishnu. if you want more options, look at ATR/Cobb accessport. if you want custom, go with cobb/ATR or a custom dyno tuned flash with no hardware purchase. find a local dyno shop. they can tune the n54 dme and only go with a shop that has done multiple n54's. |

Thanks for the input. This isn't a tuning war though, so lets not start that BS. I searched through 5 pages manually, including the built-in Google search, so it's not for lack of effort or laziness. Most of what I found deals with Cobb/JB4. I was able to locate this thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ght=Vishnu+JB4, but it isn't exactly what I'm looking for. If you know of more threads, kindly point me in the right direction.
Don't mean to be a cock, but try reading my post/preface before chiming in. For the record, I'm most likely switching to PROcede for purposes which are irrelevant to this thread. I can give three-to-four flying fucks in regards to "opinions" about who's better. This isn't a dick measuring contest. I'm simply looking for those who have done the switch and their experience (e.g. drive-ability, custom-tuning/maps, tuning for meth, tuning for E-85, tuning for RB's, failures, errors, annoyances, cool-shit, etc.) Again, experiences ONLY (as opposed to retarded opinions) and perhaps subtle nuances and insight that ONLY those who have done the switch can offer. I'm not against your thread, but I just know you will not find a good answer here. It's best to just try them both and you be the judge for yourself. Afterall, it's your car and you drive it. I can tell you I love X tune cause of its linear feel, and then some guy will come in and say he hates how linear the tune feels.... but both parties forgot to mention that you can adjust that linear feel to your liking, on both tunes. It can get confusing, and as I mentioned before, lots of misconceptions. |

Jeff, applause & thanks! That's real insight and perspective.
Mainly that's what this thread is all about. I'm 100% going to try the PROcede and, I agree, that its one of those "experience-for-yourself" type deals. I'm looking for people to tell me their success/failure stories after going from the JB4 to Vishnu or "try-this & try-that" recommendations. Therefore, when the time comes, I have a wealth of things to test and a list of questions to ask my techs. I'm not really interested in the whole post bashing thing. 1) Tell me what you did, 2) What was your experience, 3) Tell me what to try or look forward to, and 4) Get the fuck out! Slow, speaking of holes...here is a twisted visual of what life really is.
1) We're born through a hole 2) We eat through a hole 3) We see, hear & breath out of a whole 4) We shit, piss and ejaculate from a hole 5) We fuck through a hole 6) When you die, you go into a hole (most of the time) |

I made my switch from JB4 to PROcede a while ago. I went from The G4 JB4 board to the PROcede Rev 2b.
My biggest pet-peeve was shifting quickly with the JB4. Under full boost I would shift at around 6500 rpm, and would always bog into the next gear, loosing about a car length or two on guys I would race. On the procede I never experienced this issue. The other main reason I switched was because of the lack of timing control the JB4 had at the time, this is untrue now as there is a CPS module you can purchase from them now, but at the time PROcede was the only piggy that had control over timing instead of relying on the factory DME to pull it. My mods were DPs, DCI, Catback, and a tune. I Just want to point out that this thread is going to go south quickly, but hopefully you will get your answer before a war breaks out. And even though I gave you my reasons for the switch, my reasons are really out of date compared to what both tunes have to offer nowdays, but nonetheless I wanted to give you my experience. Hope I could help.

I made the switch earlier this year, after going from Procede to JB4 due to the Procede V4 misfire saga.
The JB4 was nice, with good features like the steering wheel controls (promised by Shiv months ago but never done ), a bit more powerful than the Procede on the OTS maps I used. But it lacked where it counts most for a track guy like me: linear and predictable throttle response. On the racetrack the JB4 felt too much like an on/off switch, it was just too raw. That made me move to the Procede again. Maybe this issue can be ironed out by customizing JB4 maps, but I'm more of the "set and forget" type of guy. I don't like tinkering with parameters all the time. As of now my car runs great and I'm happy with it

I am totally isolated up here in the Midwest, I'd love to compare drive-ability between FBO + e85 + JB4 vs. FBO + e85 + Proceed. I have a 335xi, which does complicate things a bit. |
