Girlfriend going catless ;)
Hey Guys,
My girlfriend just picked up an N54 E90 Msport. I want to do a tune and catless dp's. Here is the catch.....I don't want her to know what I'm doing. I just want to see her reaction once she drives it. I just want to make sure that if I do the dp's and leave the rest of the exhaust stock- the smell won't be that bad? I know smell is subjective but I just want to get an overall opinion. Do you know what the average gain on what the car will be with the dp's before and after a tune? I just want to make sure that the gain will outweigh the smell- if there is one! Thanks!

If the secondary cats are left in, like you plan to, the smell shouldn't be too bad. Same setup I have.

Thanks guys. So u pick up roughly 25hp with a tune and catless dp's vs a tune alone. That is huge!

Who paid for the car?
I dont know if most girls would be happy with mods that could void the warranty and potentially damage the car if it isnt properly maintained. How many girls are gonna wait for the cars oil to warm up before flooring it to pass somebody or properly maintaining the car...a stock car is no prob but with the extra boost, you gotta be a little more careful. Now if it was a girlfriend modding a guys car its completely different...I dont know how ur gf is so you would know its shes into it or not, but personaly Id make sure she wants mods before putting them on. |

It runs a stock map with 8 psi target until 160 F. Then it depends on what map you have selected. I run map 5 and hit 16 psi after it warms up.

If there are any issues like a leaking turbo you will find out immediately once you put in the DP's....and it will smoke like hell. Ask how I know

OP, to try and answer your question about smell. If you keep the secondary cats you won't get bad exhaust smell after removing the main cats in the DPs.
