Analog Speedo Correction
Hello,
I've done a ton of reading about the speedo's being off 2-3mph, and have verified mine is the same with my cell's GPS as well as a regular GPS. I have done coding for BC_DIGITAL_V so that i can see my digital speedometer. Since then i have tried setting BC_V_KORREKTUR & BC_DIGITAL_V_KORREKTUR to nicht_aktiv which did correct my digial speedometer so now that is almost the exact same as my GPS and Cell (pretty awesome actually). Everything i have read says that we cannot fix the Analog speedometer, i just wanted to shoot out a quick question to the Guru's out there to see if that is still true...any help is appreciated I'm hoping there is a newer thread out there that i missed which indicates how to fix it. Pretty weird looking when your digial speedometer on your gauge cluster says 48mph while your speedometer needle is pointing at 50mph |

Someone was experimenting with some other values that define the actual correction percentage and I think they got pretty close but the concern was it was dependent on the car and wheels/tires and at the time it was mostly try a value and see how good it is.
So it wasn't really worth the time. |

Cool thanks for the responses, what are other people doing then living with the difference between the two? or do they set BC_V_KORREKTUR & BC_DIGITAL_V_KORREKTUR back to aktiv so they don't see the difference and just drive slower than they actually are?

I keep my digital speedometer set to the "real" value.

Yes, and they mostly use laser so I had to get a laser jammer on top of the radar detector. They go out only certain days of the month, unfortunately you never know which ones.

I didnt do it to mine as I am fine with it not reading the same as the digital speedo but when I had my led cluster done the guy who installed it had the dial off by 2 to 3 miles and had to take the dial off and reposition it to original spot. Look at the DIY on led cluster replacement and it shows you how to get to the dials and remove them. Mark a spot where the original location is and then reinstall the dial one mm and it should be enough to be exact to the digital speedo. To me it's not even worth it though

I have the corrected digital VO shown and rarely ever look at the analog gauge. 6% over sucks. I want to know my exact speed at all ranges. Our cops are big revenue generators.

I am going to have to get the digital to show up... How hard is coding these things?? =) Anyone know if you can use the JB4 to hijack the speedometer to show something useful??? |

I made the change for the Analog and now it's still off, but the digital is correct. Guess I won't be looking at the analog gauge much...

I hate when the analog is doing 65 while the portable GPS is at 60. I slapped in 255x40x18 in the rear and I could swear the Analog + Digital Speedo and Porta Navi speed is right on target, they all agree
My car looks taller with bulky tires. So go ahead hate me. But hey, I am more for comfort not for looks. One more thing, been driving car to work for the past 2 years @ 45.1 miles each way on the register. The mileage dropped to 41.8 each way with oversized tires. Do I save on gas, mileage accrual or both? Last edited by koolit; 08-14-2013 at 10:58 PM.. |

I was not willing to put up with the speedometer error. I changed to 255/40-18 rear and 225/45-18 front. My speedo is now very accurate at highway speeds, problem solved. I like the look, and the improved ride, the decreased risk of rim damage. A side effect is my odometer is not accurate, a nice feature when you are leasing...

I live in Ohio - owned a streetbike around 2013 and long story short I got my license suspended for 12 points in 2 years.. Total bs as they targeted me left and right but we all managed to treat each other with respect and the judge was lenient. Overall I've not had many issues in the BMW in the past 1.5 year of ownership and the one time was totally my fault lol.
