New 320i M convertible advice needed
Hi guys, a great forum.
I'm about to purchase my first bmw 3201m sport auto convertible, i was just palying around with options, can you guys recommended any essential or requirede options? these are the ones i probably will go for: Sapphire black, with dakota coral red (not 100% decided on the red) navigation pro Bluetooth Heated Seats Front sliding armrest park distance control rain sensor with auto light storage package usb audio interface i was thinking of tv function, but is that any good? what is the reception like? any suggestions wuld be greatly appreciated. |

In my opinion that is a good spec. I would bin the sliding armrest - as it doesnt serve much purpose (does it?) and wouldnt bother with the TV function unless you decide that it is justified by watching it a lot! It can only be used whilst stationary.
If your car was anything other than the vert, it would be overspecced, but i suspect residuals will be strong and justify the added expense. Oh and welcome, it is a great great forum. ![]() |

thanks for the suggestions so far.
i think the hi-fi would be a god option especially with the vert down, i notice that there is a £820 logic7 option, is that really worth it? or should i stick with the hi-fi option? and also what comes extra with the hi-fi option? thanks |

If you can stretch to the Pro Hifi then get it. I've had mine just over a week and it's excellent, even allowing for the fact that it needs to be run in a little! It could do with a few more surround programmes but combined with the USB audio and my 80gb iPod it's brilliant!
The only down side is the cost of the cable, an extra £36.95 on top of the cost of 6FL and the iPod......mmm! |

I agree drop the sliding armrest and add the comfort access.
Only had mine a week and a half and already I couldn't live without the comfort access. Go for the hifi upgrade if you can afford to. I have been finding the voice control and the BMW assist pretty cool too but, I guess the novelty of those may wear off quickly. You'll get those thrown in if you are going for the NavPro and the Bluetooth.

Would have to agree with GreatBM on the wind deflector front. I didn't bother getting this and haven't yet felt like I need it.
Took the car on the motorway at the weekend with the top down (won't say how fast I was going) and I didn't feel like I needed it then. The misses didn't complain about being blowing about either!

Ok, Carl just keep the keys in your pocket (or anywhere on your being) and go for the door handle. It will unlock for you. To lock the car just squeeze the top and bottom of the handle where the ridges are.
Same goes for starting the engine. just press start if the keys are within the car (foot must be on clutch on a manual or brake on an auto). Same goes for turning the engine off (just press the start/stop button as usual)!

What do you mean do you need to activate it? Are you winding me up? Either you have it installed or you don't. Try it if you think you have it.
I am not sure if the lights are part of the comfort access or not (I am sure there must be some info on here about them). I think (but don't quote me) that the ridges on the door handles are only there if you specified comfort access. Hope that helps

I did: - 19" wheels (prob not necessary but look good!) - ipod 6fl (superb upgrade with the USB in the armrest and a holder for the ipod underneath the hinged bit) - heated seats (superb on chilly evenings! - i would say necessary with a vert) - m-sport kit gave me sportier bumpers, M-sport suspension (i test drove the one with standard set up and it felt a bit soft, especially with the roof down and the additional weight over the rear axle), M Sport steering wheel (defo superb) and sports seats (maybe a little bit too supportive when u are 'man sized', lol) - Wind deflector - very good again on cool evenings/mornings - stops virtually all buffeting around your neck when the windows are up - u can get em off ebay cheaper than the stealers! The bluetooth is nice but when you can pick up a Nokia ck-7w for £70 and an adaptor lead for the radio for abput 30quid it makes a cheaper option (unless you use your phone a lot in the car) - did this on the missus E46 compact and all phones pair up via bluetooth as soon as you climb in the car. Would not bother with sliding armrest IMO. Rain sensing wipers are neat as are auto lights but find I turn em off as the DRL's are on all the time with the zenons anyway and the car seems to put the main lights on very early. hope this helps, check out my garage for pics of my 'vert!
