What do you think of this lease?

I am a first time poster and I think this forum is simply amazing. The information that people are sharing is invaluable. Anyway, I am looking to lease a 07 328xi | Sparkling Graphite | Step | Premium | Comfort | Sirius and so far negotiated the following:

1. MSRP - $41670
2. Selling Price - $40,195
3. LEV% = 63%
4. LEV = $26,252.10
5. Acquisition Fee = $725
6. Total Adjusted Cap Cost = 42,185
7. Money Factor = .00156 (down from .00205)
8. Security = 4400 (8 MSD's at $550 piece = fully refundable)
9. Due at Signing = $4990 (4400 + 1st month + 75 Annual Fee)
10. Monthly Payment = $515.31/month for 39 months

I am curious on the MSD's - I thought you could only do 7 and they were at $500. I have 8 @ $550 but only a .00049 reduction (i.e. for 7 MSD's) eventhough all $4400 is fully refundable.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum!

How come your "selling price/negotiated cap cost" is $40,195 but your "total adjusted cap cost" is $42,185? If you add the Selling price + Acquisition fee you'll get something like $40,905. I dont know where the $42,185 comes from.

As to your question regarding MSD- you are allowed 7 ADDITIONAL SDs. Each of them will lower your MF by .00007. If it's your first time with BMW FS you need to put a SD down and that SD doesnt lower your MF at all. Think of it as good faith money. It's only the additional ones that will lower your MF. Also, each SD is rounded to the next $50 so since your payment came out to be $515.31, it's rounded to $550 (same thing if it was $549).

Thanks BMWE90!

I had that same question myself and have raised it with my CA. I will let you know what they say.

Again - appreciate your response I will check the other posts to see what people are paying.

Best,

MRT

How did you get MSRP at $41670? I priced your car on Edmonds.com and MSRP is $43,970, invoice is $40,500.

Looks like a pretty good deal. It's pretty crazy had to put 8 SDs (security deposits) down to bring the MF to 0.00156. Mine's at 0.00165 with 0 SDs. My due at signing was about $1050.

Hey stooken - maybe you priced the coupe vs. the Sedan (MSRP Sedan with options @41,670 forgot heated seats above) - I am looking at the sedan. I know the buy rate MF was .00190 on the sedan...I was quoted at .00205 with the .00049 in SD's bringing it down to .00156.

I see from edmunds.com people are paying $40,292...i am getting 40,195 so feel pretty good about it...but there are always better deals.

I am still thinking about using MSDs.

I heard they are NOT fully refundable if you return the car with excessive wear and tear. I assume the dealer will be alot more anal when you return the car so they don't have to cut you a fat check for your MSDs.

Please someone chime in!

yes with BMW putting MSD's is risky. They give you a hard time UNLESS you wanna lease another car. I'd rather have my money in my pocket and have the freedom to choose my next car.
If you want to risk it, go for it but dont put too much

I relooked at the numbers and believe the 40,195 to 42,185 difference is the sell price + acquisition fee + tax on the lease payments. Therefore it would be:

40195 - Selling Price
725 - Acquisition Fee
40920 - Total cost before taxes
+(515.xx * 39)*.0675 (tax for my Ohio county)- tax on all lease payments
approx = $42,185

Does anyone see flaws in my logic (I think there are some rounding issues)

Don't look at the TMV, look at the invoice and add about $500 for MACO and training fees. Edmonds doesnt include that.

When I priced my E92 on Edmonds, TMV was about $1100 over invoice. I got mine for $360 over invoice.

Maybe you had a dealer that tried to push you around, but the last 2 tiems I did MSD's I got a refund check in the mail. MSD's lower your payment and if you crunch the numbers it is about a 12% tax free return on your "investment".

If you are easily bullyed by a BMW dealer then don't do the MSD's, if you can stand up for yourself, the MSD is a great way to lower your payment significantly and if you decide to sell your car half way through your lease to a private party, you still get the money back!

The dealer could care less if you have MSDs when returning the car. The check is coming from BMWFS, not the dealership, the dealer really has no party/benefit in you getting your SD's back or not getting them back. Irrelevant to them. But if you aren't one to take care of your car, when you return it any end of lease charges are going to come out of your deposit, and a dispo fee if you don't get another.
