Thumbs up EVO review of M3 is good! (beats RS4 too)

Bought it this morning and its a good review IMO.

It beats the RS4, which is what mattered, and will shut up the audi fan boys that seem to have taken over m3post.com its sooo depressing over there at the moment(y'know the ones - register in July and have 3 posts etc) granted its not the review most expected and didn't win by a big margin, but thats because the RS4 is such a good car!

don't get me wrong I almost bought an RS4, its a quality car by VW sorry audi but I am a M-power man

anyhow heres the links to the M3post threads

PS I have sent an email to autocar re: their review, sutters made mistakes etc in kerb weight quotes etc, and i'm sure the headline had something to do with causing controversy and selling mags

i read it in slightly different way, i think they are both about equal, if you like rear wheel drive m3 is the way to go, if your not the best driver the RS4 4 wheels drive is the one, it does intimate the RS4 is faster in a straight line, more torque etc, however the m3 counters with more corner speed.

if its a choice between rs4 or m3 coupe, then its the rs4 please, but when the saloon comes out then that is a different story.

it has marginally more torque right steve?? and almost identical power with what 50kg difference in weight?

straightline i would say the bm should have it (like i have said many times against your argument for the audi) the bmw has far less drivetrain losses and with everything else so similar it should have the upper hand!

carl it says in the article the rs4 is faster in a straight line. FACT,

and seeing how you put such importance on 0-60 1/4 mile etc then why do we keep having the same argument.????????

the rs4 is lighter than the m3, has more torque bmw 295 at 3900 rs4 317 at 2300 over a larger rev range......

people should get with the program the RS4 is a monster. The new M3 is underwhelming and the C63 will kill them both. rant over aaaaghhhhh i feel better now.

well ok... untill i see some better times from the rs4..... i mean its only a few tenths quicker to the quarter at the same trap speeds as a 335i!!!

but would murder it around a corner

im just hoping to see mid to high 12's from the m3 with traps of 110ish

Which is all well and good, but you also need to factor in:

No private M3s about till Sept/Oct earliest
RS4 now out of production (its always a run-out model)
No RS4 coupe available, likewise no 3 saloon or touring prodn. dates yet

Competition is a good thing - I like the fact that BMW and Audi product cycles are slightly different. You can get more choice and buy the one that ticks most boxes that way.
