hubs, calipers and bolts painted gloss black
Right guys so I was getting fed up of my hubs, calipers and bolts rusting as they do. I've even seen six month old ones looking tired so I decided to do something about it. I armed myself with a wirebrush and sand pager and set about the also give the wheels a deep clean even the insides. And after what felt like an eternity I have finished and here a couple of pics. It was hard to get a good pic
Thoughts and opinions please I thinks it blends in quite nice |

Hi Phil it was halfrauds high temperature enamel engine paint upto 300 degrees. Cost 7.49 and loads left. I was going to go oem silver but they didn't have none but I'm happy with the result. and I was fed up of looking at them.

Nice work. Black or silver looks subtle and certainly improves the appearance IMO, I'd not be tempted with red though, it look would like a DIY chav special.

I did my hubs and calipers silver and painted the retaining clip black.
Looks loads better than having lovely clean wheels but rusty calipers and hubs showing! ![]() ![]()

I painted the hubs on my previous car with Hammerite rust preventer, but it drags a bit when you apply it; though it did look better the finish wasn't quite as smooth as I would have liked. |

Yeh I did the hubs aswell. You can't get a perfect finish as the hubs were too pitted already. I'm going to paint the new ones before they go on next time as the coating they come in is crap

I did mine few months ago just went for the hammerite black smooth but since seeing the black and silver combo it does look good.
Anyone know if I can paint silver on top of hammerite or do I need to sand it back down? |

Looks great! I am considering this but was going to get the work farmed out and have the calipers sprayed up properly.. Worried I'll do a crap job with a brush and it's so obvious due to the amount of visibility you get with the 313s ... Hmm...

I've always found Hammerite smooth does a good job.....
This is actually very high on my list of things to do! I'm thinking of going a little bit out there, it can always be painted over so may just give it a go. Pictures to follow! |

You can't really screw this up, I've done red then gold on my last two cars. The hammerite brush on stuff covers everything dries smooth just put a bit of masking tape on the bit of pad you can see and the top of the disc, pop off the spring and paint away. Just trying to decide a colour for my new 330d

Echo the others - really easy job. I did mine in the past couple of weeks: hubs and calipers done with black Hammerite applied with a brush. I finished them off with some BMW decals on the front calipers (proper heat-resistant ones).
Before: ![]() After: ![]() (I've since fitted bolt covers over the wheel bolts to hide the rust - the only thing still bugging me is the rusty lip on the outer edge of the disc)

Out of interest, where did you source your caliper stickers?
