COBB e30 datalog
my mods are the following:
Injen DCI AMS FMIC VRSF Downpipes Cobb AP with OTS e30 map I first time I ran the map i was on a mixture of 4 gallons of e85, and 8 gallons of 92 (w/ up to 10% ethanol). The only place that sells e85 locally only sells 92 for premium gas and not 93. Car felt amazing but i noticed timing corrections from a number of cylinders usually any combination of 1, 4, 5, 6 on a number of logs. This morning i added 2 more gallons of e85, running a mixture of about 6 gallons of e85, and 8 gallons of 92 with some better results. still had some timing corrections however. i just added 2 more gallons of e85, now running about a e50 mix but still having some timing corrections. The first graph is of a e30 mix, second of a e40 mix, and third a e50 mix. this is my first attempt to plot a datalog on a graph. I took out some logs and changed things such as rpm and charge air temp to smaller units so the graph didn't look so out of scale. i'm kinda new to reading datalogs so i appreciate any input. EDIT: correct log and graph on post 9

Post up the logs not just graphs.
You should not be adding in a bunch of e85 haphazardly. If you want to up the e85 content, you need to adjust the fuel scalar or risk lean conditions and expensive mistakes... |

oh thanks, i just added the logs. i've been monitoring the AFR's and it doesn't seem to be running lean at all. all three show about the same AFR's.

honestly those logs are a mess. your stfts are pretty far negative, not quite pinned i think, but show you need to adjust the scalar.
Looking at the timing and corrections, its hard to say because your dme is asking for like 20-30 degrees of timing when it corrects alot of the time, that means you were partial throttle for most of the logs. Make sure to log throttle position and tps actual so you can see if there are any throttle closures. From the look of it, I'd say it may be close to time for new plugs, but I'd repeat the logs with some WOT runs with traction off... |

Download atr and change the fuel scalars. If you don't know how, ask someone.

Short version log only 3-4 gears with traction OFF. Go DS and set 3rd gear and go down to 1500-2000 rpm. Click the log button and go wot without triggering the kick down . After the shift to 4th keep on going a bit that stop the logging.

read this and it will help you. as for your logs, put it in manual 3, log at 2500 or so, ease in the throttle, too fast will throw you in 2nd. My logs are about TPS 80.98 @ 2900 RPM and 41.2 Accel Ped. Pos, 99.61 @ 3800 rpm. Thus my gas peddle at the floor by 3800 rpm. I have DTC and DSC completely off. Stock Throttle (ST). I don't go to redline, i shift into 4th around 6500.

Thanks for the advices. okay i think i put together a better log to analyze. i got a 3-4 gear wot pull with tps actual, accel pedal position, and boost this time w/ traction control off. i also adjusted the fuel scalar to 1.149, but it doesn't look like i adjusted nearly enough. still getting timing corrections on cylinder 5, up to 10 degrees.

There's A LOT going on in that first graph so it's hard to pick out the important stuff and I couldn't get the PDF to work(I kept getting a "corrupted" error message.)
Just looking at the second graph it appears you need to run a higher ethanol content and adjust fuel scalar accordingly. OR dial the timing back 2-3 degrees in the appropriate load columns and log some more. |

The scalar is still not right, your ltfts are in the 20s with stfts in the -30s, so not quite right. that means you probably need to go up on the scalar a bit.
With that much of a correction on cylinder 5 only I would look at possible problems there, the common ones are 1 - bad plug 2- bad coil 3 - bad injector 4 - dirty intake valve 5 - leaky head spitting oil into cylinder I'd start by moving your cyl 5 coil over and relog, if cyl 5 still sucks, change out your plugs. If you don't want to chase it down, get away from the e30 maps, log on the regular maps and see if your engine is happier. good luck |

after you dl the file, change the extension to .csv from .pdf. this forum is limited in what types of file you can upload so i had to change the extension to pdf. sorry i should've mentioned that. Quote:
I retarded timing 1-2 degrees from the main timing table on the two higher load columns that needed it. after logging again, it seemed to have helped. it lowered timing corrections a few degrees.

after you drive for a while i bet the stft's and ltfts will calm down... they don't look so bad now they add up to ~-5. i'd still keep an eye on them for a while.
Cylinder 5 is still definitely sucking! I would look into it more as above... |

i think the quality of the premium gas was the cause of the problem. I drove to Shell and got some v-power 93 and went back to Sheets to get the e85. I flashed back to the e30 OTS map running about 34% ethanol (if the 93 indeed has 10% ethanol). this time the logs were much cleaner, even better than on e50 with adjust fuel scalars with reduced timing.
