I know that this topic of frustration has been discussed ad nauseam, but I hope that someone can humor me once again and talk me off the roof...

Dropped off my 335i in Paris on 15 June... Obviously did not expect my baby to come home for 6-8 weeks, but was advised by the dealer that it 'was on the way' and expected 17 July. I rescheduled business trips for the following week, but the car didn't show... Dealer finally advised that it actually did not make the truck, but should arrive any day.

I got someone at European Delivery to actually look up my VIN. They advised that it got stuck in customs for about 2 weeks, but was released on 17 July to the VPC... As of today, it still has not been assigned to a truck.

My question -- Is there anything that I can do to find out what is going on? I'm getting no love from the dealer... Do I have any chance of seeing this vehicle by mid-next week?

Sorry to hear that.. I don't think there is much you can do... at least you know where it is. Just keep trying your CA, thats your best bet IMO. If the waits gets too long, say you will complain to BMW NA, that usually lights a fire under their butts.

but in the mean time... perhaps some humor will make you feel better

Dropped my car in geneva June 8th, just found out on Saturday that it was released, I called ED yesterday and they said it was in transit to the dealer...
It seems Customs takes very long, at least 2 weeks...any day now

I'm giving up on even bothering to follow-up any longer. I'm almost to the point where my frustration and dismay outweigh the pleasure that I had driving the car in Germany and even the cost savings. The dealer now tells me that the car is still in customs, which contradicts what I heard from Euro Delivery last week. I seriously give up. I would have been fine if I hadn't been misled with bad information, but this is seriously playing with my emotions.... arghghghghghg

That sucks. Sorry to hear you have to go through this crap. Hang in there man, it'll show up and believe it or not, when it does, you'll disregard how painful the wait was...

Man I am really confused. Dealer checked and said its still in customs. You are being told in transit? My car reached port Jersey July 5th and if I am not wrong, you were on Asian Chorus too right? What the heck is with BMW with conflicting confusing info? I know for a fact my car was not at the dealer today. They checked it and said, "still not released from customs" Aaargh, what the hell is going on? Let us know if you recieve your car because I am seriously doubtful of their infor now. They have no reason to lie, but there is miss-information going on. I had arranged for someone to pick it up already and take it up to my house (I have my other car and can't drive two cars at same time.) and had to cancel. They had said I would have it past Thursday or Friday 7/27, but obviously no car.

BMW ED dept can give the most accurate status. They're helpful if you're polite. Custom wait for ED cars can be 3+ wks. I'm 6+wks since d/o and promised release for transport this Thurs. We'll see.

Finally got call from ED...They said customs took forever, but now there is 'minor damage' that will be fixed this week Thursday...Perhaps I'll get it the following week... arhgahghgkdahsgkahdsgkahsdgkahg

This is unbelievable....
so my car was dropped off July 5th at the Port...I found out last Saturday that it was "released" from the VPC...and I still haven't received the car...It is sitting in the freakin lot in South Carolina, 2 measley hours from Atlanta...with no idea when it is coming to my dealership...I dropped off the car on June 8th, which means it has been 53 days (7.5 weeks)
I guess I have 3 more days until the 8 week deadline, then I am really gonna be pissed...Vase, is your car still at the port?

Yes, still at port. Man, I was in the same boat as you, and my car still at port. This absolutely sucks! I know how you feel men, they need to figureout a more efficient way of doing this. Dealer says it should be released any time now.

i would raise hell with bmw, once u get over the 8 week, post dropoff date, u shouldnt pay for the lease of a car, u arent driving,
in less than a week, I will be making the 3rd month lease payment of a car I only drove for 1 week.

Yeah, I plan on going there tomorrow and saying look, I know its ED, but this just sucks. I have my 330ci daily driver, but I am still honestly loosing patience here. I want to enjoy the car I bought. It is maybe less painful than if I had leased, but still, it sucks. I left my CA a message and said, its frustrating they are not able to do anything on this, so please call and get me some info. Let us know when you get your car man, at least it will give us an illusion ours are just around the block and help with the wait.

I just find it extremely difficult to ascertain, why my ED car waits ready to go at the VPC for almost 2 weeks, but new cars run through customs and the vpc with seemingly no wait at all...It feels as we take teh back road, b/c we are already paying for the car, and BMW has no incentive to speed up the process....These first 3 months of payments are actually going toward the delivery and shipping fees it seems...

I think it has to do with the importing of the car as "used" that takes more time while new cars go right through.

I am excited, I am going for ED at the end of this month - I'm also nervous about the whole customs/extra wait crap.

Ok Now I was on the same boat, where is my damn car? Ask your ride if it saw mine back there But seriously you are in GA for God sakes, how the hell you get your car before me? Whos elbows did you have to grease at customs? I just called dealer tonight and asked my CA to check, and DIS or whatever they call it says still not released from Customs. I dont know what the hell is going on with your car, did u try to smuggle in some yay? j/k....I feel for u, u shouldnt make another payment until u get the car, it is pretty shady....i will post some pics, when i have a chance...

I too dropped off my 335I vert in Milan on June 11th, was told on July 12th it hit the US. Still no car. The good news is it really is a great car.

Anyway its out of customs today, so CA says BMW will try to expedite the process and I should have it next Wednesday or Thursday at the latest.:rocks:
Deval you still beat me by a week and we were on the same boat, yet your car was going further than mine. Whats up with that? I think they really looked at mine extra hard. One extra week? Dang! Anyway, I am as happy as cram now. Can't wait to get in and drive again. Also no damage on my car, so I will be waiting on the redelivery without further delay.
