335i Eisenmann Race RANT.

I’m new to the BMW scene, and this definitely isn’t a great first experience.

Before I’d even picked the paint color of my car, I wanted to make sure that the car had an exhaust and a drop when it come in. I just can’t drive a car with stock ride height and a stock exhaust. It pisses me off.

I’d had nothing but Supras (and a few DSM daily beaters) as cars before, and didn’t know a damn thing about the BMW scene. I started asking around, and got directed to a local shop. They’ve treated me very well since I started doing business with them, so I won’t mention their name here.

Anyway. Order the Tein coilovers, get them, put them on the car once the car arrives. Great.
Time for exhaust. The local dealer highly recommended the Eisenmann Race system. He said fit was perfect, and that it’d sound great under load, but be reasonable while cruising, with no drone. He said that the Eisenmann system would fit absolutely perfectly, and that they spend hours developing these systems for a great fit every time. I had my dealer order one of the very first units to be coming into the country.

Then I got the exhaust.

I took it to my installer, and he started complaining as soon as he put the system up to the car. I was freaking out myself a little bit- my car had 230 miles on it at the time, and I had to watch my mechanic start cutting my stock piping and hammering down my heat shield to try to get this thing to fit. After a few hours of cutting, hammering, and welding, he finally got the system on, and ended up billing me a good deal more than his standard amount of hours for the install.

The exhaust droned like hell most of the time. Bad on startup, bad when cruising, great sound under wide open throttle. Too bad I don’t redline my car all day long, or else this would be perfect. It was embarrassing to have clients in the car. I took it off, and now it’s dead weight it my garage, and I still don’t have an exhaust. Overall, I’m kinda pissed about the whole thing.

Now I can’t get a refund, cause my installer had to bend and hammer on the exhaust that didn’t fit, and I sure as hell can’t sell it on a clear conscience either, cause the system sucks.

What do I do?

Does it really sound that bad? From the sound clips i've hear they sound pretty good.

But I see you also have an mkiv... I guess if the eisemann doesnt sound anything like an exhaust on an mkiv ill pass too... this was really going to be the one I was going to get too... bummer...

What the hell is going on with this exhaust?!? I was also set on getting the full eisenmann race, but now I have been reading how it drones really badly and now he is saying that the fitment is off?

Honestly i've heard it in person and like he OP said its great under WOT but normaly the car sounds like crap! I feel sorry for anyone who puts down pipes on a 335 with the eisenmann race, its going to be a disaster!

wow, absolutely sorry to hear what had happened:

Fitment issue: it is really strange that the unit is not fitting well, because we are installing these units in our shop at least few sets a week and we can install the whole set up less than 1.5 labor hour. With the rear unit (exhaust unit) alone including the cutting the stock pipes, it takes about 45 mins to an hour max - and have absolutely no fitment issues - no bending, no hammering.
Does anyone else experience this bad fitment on 335s? If so, please email us or give us a call what had happened, we would like to hear and take care of issues if there are any problem exist.. so far we have delivered quite a few units to our dealers and end users, but we have not heard any bad fitment issues.. really strange to hear this and sorry to hear this incident.

Sound: it is really a subjective matter depending on which individual hears the note. If you think the sound is too loud / overbearing for your taste, while some people just gotta have this racing sound,
we have sport version on the way in about a week,
so please consider those instead. Thank you for your attention on this matter.

Best regards,

EisenHaus

Hmm... I don't see an Eisenmann Sport on your website, does that system even exist?

What about all the stuff in this thread?

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71208

edgarj says: "My Eisenmann Race (full) sounds great when I'm driving hard... but it drones in the 2-3K rpm range terribly (makes my trim rattle and my head ache) when crusing at partial throttle. Starting it up cold produces this "Camaro on glass-packs" sound for the first few seconds that is truly embarassing. More like Camaro sans muffler. Not what I had in mind at all, but it is sublime when in the higher revs at WOT. Too bad I spend more time cruising to the giant-bassoon drone than enjoying the performance-range note. I thought I'd get used to it, but it's just too loud in all the wrong places for me. I can't help but feel somewhat bitter, as I just can't imagine that any R&D was performed on this specific kit given the final product, and I pre-ordered the Eisenmann based on the sound reputation of their priducts in other applications."

I'm not the only guy who thinks this way.

Sorry to hear. My buddy's E55 Eisenman quad exhaust is all jacked up too (cosmetically), the quad tips are all crooked/defective from the factory but the sounds produced by the exhaust are intoxicating.

It is a great exhaust for NA engines. I got addicted when I have heared it on V10 M5. So far as I can tell from the videos and expirences the race version does not sound right at all on our 3.0TT. Waiting for sport version.

Install Easy / Sounds Horrible

Just had mine (rear section only) installed yesterday. The installation was quite easy considering I used some skilled guys. 1.5 hour install.

However, the system sounds terrible. It sounds nothing like what is on the Eisenmann website. Not even close with lots of droning. It is so loud at a cruising level that I am thinking of taking it out.

Eisenmann in my personal experiences are always way too loud for my taste. Its like hearing a honda civic on steroids coming down the street.

wow i would be pissed ..esp since it sounds like the place you went in reality didn't know how to install the eissenman exhaust!!!! you shouldn't have to bang anything with a hammer!!!!!!!! they made it specifically for the 335 and bmw didn't change the undercarriage area at all besides the lsd and making it welded now!!!! and if droning or loudness was an issue why the hell would you buy the RACE system and not the Sport....you should have thought this out and done some research and this NEVER would have happened!!!!!! sry bro that's what PLANS are for to help you not make a large mistake on a 40-60k car..

and keep in mind THIS IS A RACE SYSTEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

they make a quieter sport version which is what vendors should be selling more of b/c of the loud droning from the race!!!!! but they keep pushing the race i have no clue why!!

First off, the sport version is even out yet. On top of that, eisenhaus was telling everyone that the race version did NOT drone so I don't know what type of planning you wanted him to do, but no one knew that this exhaust was going to drone like crazy since there were no reviews of it at the time when he purchased the exhaust aside from what the manufacturer was telling us.

BTW, you don't need to use 500 exclamation points in every post to get your point across. Capitalizing words and punctuation also help to understand what you are trying to say.
