My E50 ATR map and datalog
Here is my latest E50 map after some changes made today at sea level. I only got one pull in before I had to drive back to the mountains.
This is the map that is giving +150 deltas with VD, same road, same weather. Please have a look and let me know if something jumps out. There are some timing corrections but no adjacent cylinders and they taper nicely. It was 83* but I was sitting in a rest stop making map changes so the IATs were over 120 when I pulled out. I waited for them to get <100 before making the pull. Lets discuss and learn. I8AOS 08 335i 72k 6MT FMIC only, stock paper filter. DCT off, AC off T |

Awesome. Thanks for all the replies.
Let's try another topic, what intake should I get? DCI or CAI? T |

Alright, alright...I skipped over this yesterday because I didn't have time to take a serious look :-). But in the meantime, I think DCI tastes better, but CAI is less filling.

OK, so you got a bit of knock right when you hit it. Not adjacent cylinders, but I still bet it could be tuned out. A little more around 5600, same deal. I see you're climbing from 13.0 to 13.5 degrees if timing through there. Might be just a bit too aggressive for E50 at that load level and rpm.
Looks fine for short bursts if you don't want to touch anything, but I prefer to tune those things out if possible, just to give myself a bit more headroom if I'm going to be aggressive for more than just a few seconds. I notice that the Cylinder 1 timing also got pulled even more at 4200rpm and load of almost 180 as the boost spiked. Even though it was just one cylinder I'd pull a bit of timing there, too. Overall I think it looks pretty good because you're being pretty aggressive on the timing in the midrange rpms but it doesn't look like it's causing much problem. Should feel pretty good. I envy how cool your CAT stayed the whole time...I really need to get my IC on. |

Lucky that your IAT stayed under 100...that's usually where the fun get spoiled
What are your mods? These logs look similar to mine. Looks like the pulled timing has to do with throttle tip-in, which I've had from time to time. Not sure if it is related to the timing that gets pulled on shifts. You'd have to do multiple runs to know for sure if pulled timing at 5500 or so rpm is a fluke or not, but you may consider holding off on the timing increases until later in the rpm range when boost tapers off a bit more. Bet the car feels awesome! |

I've been told, many times by many tuners, that I really needed a DCI in order to continue on my E85 project. They say that 400whp is around the point you get problems without one...not enough air to support higher boost. If this is true, then there is more power on the table for both of us.
I actually just put an aFe one in and have to return to tuning. Here is a decent comparison of where I got myself too before I stopped getting more aggressive with E85 (due, mainly, to the 3-4 shift knock issue). 401 vs E85. You have to combine the green/yellow run and the blue/red. Obviously, the delta is pretty huge...and I've still got a lot of room to grow. 50/50 blend (9.1 gallons E85). |
