Impossible deal ?

I originally had another post on this when i first ordered the car in June, but it looks like the dealer miscalculated the residual on the coupe (they used the sedan's instead that was much higher) when quoting my the payment... anyway, this is what i ended up with.

328i Coupe
MSRP $39070
Negotiated price - $38000
Costs added to lease - 1950 (taxes) + 200 (tags) + 800 (acq fee) + 350 (disposal fee) = $3300
Net CAP Cost = $40870
Term - 36 months
Miles - 15k miles/year
Residual after 36 months, for 15k miles per year - 58%
Base Buy Money factor for June - .00140
TOTAL Money OUT THE DOOR - $430 (everything else is included in the lease).
Payment $580.00 a month

I find it very hard to believe that they give me a MF of less than the BUY RATE for the dealer (especially on a coupe). If you plug these numbers into http://www.leaseguide.com/calc.htm i get a payment of $594. The dealer wouldnt tell me exactly what they did to get the payment down when i went to take delivery, but this is close to the number they had origially quoted when i ordered the car.. however, that payment was based on a 61% residual, which is for sedans only. Btw.. these are all JUNE residual's and MF's... I believe the rates in JULY are even higher.

First off, how is your drive off less than your monthly payment? Drive off is supposed to include first month's payment, reg fees and etc. Mine's was about $1050. Never heard of a dealer adding that on to the lease.

And did you get a MF of 0.0014 or are you just posting the June rate? I got 0.00165 on my 328i coupe.

What options did you get?

Sorry, drive off was $430 + first months payment. Im just posting the June rate, however even with that rate my payment should be $594.. so it sounds like they gave me even less than the buy rate... (thats why i say impossible deal). When i ordered the rate they gave me was .00165 but the residual was wrong). The finance dept was reluctant to tell me what MF they used to get to get me to the payment of $580.00 with 15k miles/36 months. Options are, ZSP, heated seats, power seats, and HD radio.

Your net cap cost is too low. $38k + $3300 is $41,300. I think you have to add the transportation fee as well which is about $775.

I walked away from the CA that refused to give me the MF. He said he couldn't tell me until I agreed to place an order. BS! I was not going to waste my time putting down a deposit just to find out I got screwed over with a high MF.

the net cap cost includes my cap cost reduction of ~400 bucks.

Well i already have the car, and am very happy with the deal.. just trying to figure out what they did with the numbers to come up with that low payment. 580 is high but not without much of a cap cost reduction, and these particular lease terms

They didn't provide you with a printout of all the terms? (MSRP, sales price, MF, residual, net cap cost and etc)

I got that when I placed my order then I got another one when I came back to pick up the car.

Why not just call them and ask for it. They have no right to hide the MF from you. Tell them to either tell you the MF or you will go elsewhere.

Sorry if it isint clear.. i already have the car.. there is no turning back (and i dont want to.. i think i got a great deal, just trying to figure if dealers are able to given lower MF's than their actual base rate; i didnt think that was negotiable).

what is your adjusted cap cost? I can tell you what your MF is. Sounds like they knew they made the mistake (since the sedan residual is higher than the coupe) so in order to keep the deal they probably are taking a hit on your MF by contracting it lower than the published rate to keep the deal. That would be my guess. But give me the numbers and I can tell you what it is, it's simple math. Not sure why dealers keep the whole MF thing a big secret.
