Dealer replaced Turbo's

Dealer replaced my turbos. My VIN fell under the warranty for Wastegate rattle so they replaced the turbo's I went in fully modded HFS meth kit and all and they still replaced them. But after install some problems for one they left a bolt out of one of the catless dps so only one holding it in. Forgot the bracket that holds the exhaust in place that connects to the transmission area.

Down pipes are touching I guess oil pan area should be a gap . The shiny thing in pic three is like a little button or nub that dp is touching.

They called today said they fixed these problems in the pictures and adjusted DP's cause they were not re-installed correctly, but I still have a slight siren noise under low rpm and load on car. Service is at a loss on why there is a siren noise and chalks it up to AR catless downpipes as changing the acoustics of the turbo's or the multitude of my other mods as the reason for siren noise.

Thoughts anyone.

Take it back and let then fix everything you have problems with. The faster you bring it back the less of a chance your giving them to blame something on you, like for example your mods, as to why your hearing the noise at low RPM.

It pretty ridiculous they forgot a DP bolt, I would complain about that.

Oh you guys are from the US I forgot. Ya you guys have it good, BMWNA extended the wastegate warranty for you guys which is awesome.

Up here in Canada, they won't replace ours. They claim the cars in Canada aren't made in the German plant where every other BMW in the world is made in so they won't cover us. I even bought my car in the US and said I would drive down to the US to get it warrantied and they denied me and said I wasn't allowed. I guess driving and registering a BMW across the border somehow changes the wastegates to a state of being un-warrantyable. Awesome

If you start to insist with them, even if its in a firm way (not yelling) they hang up on you. They did to me at least haha

By sure noise I take it you mean that you can hear the turbos? Sounds perfectly normal, for a catless car especially. Enjoy the new turbos and break them in nicely

Siren noise you are hearing is coming from the fact that your DPs are touching the sub-frame... they need to be adjusted and bolted down properly. Not having that middle bracket isn't helping either.

Make sure your DPs are installed correctly and the siren noise will go away.

If you can't get them to adjust the DPs properly, or they just won't budge, buy a 2 5" adjustable clamps, throw them around the DPs near the flanges that connect to the exhaust and tighten them down a bit to get the pipes away from the sub-frame.

Not a turbo whistle a siren noise like a very faint sound of a fire truck or cop siren in the distance.

Thank you very helpful, and makes good sense.

Its not a leak no codes and I was showing 19 psi boost with my cobb AP with a pro tuned map before I took it back. I also know what no boost is or a leak.

No codes doesnt mean no leak. Neither does what you were making before since they dismantled the system. You can also be hitting target boost with a boost leak.

Sounds like you have a boost leak. Maybe at the turbos. Hard pipes use simple o-ring to connect.

Or even the dps rubbing. Either way its prob due to shit install from bmw tech who is paid by labor hour and is trying to bang out as many cars as possible in a day.

Hitting 19 psi is possible with a small leak, the turbos are just working harder than usual.
I would post a video of the sound, and see what people tell you.

wow cool that they did it no questions with all the mods. are you in southern CA or south Carolina? i'd like to know which dealer you went to that they were so acommodating. And do they automatically replace both turbos?

South Carolina they replaced both I was just up front about all mods and asked that if it was possible, to do so, if not I understood but I also made it clear that these issues were happening to cars without mods and that the turbos were found to have flaws.

so today I called BMWNA and spoke to customer relations, just gave them the last 7 of my VIN and he then stated my car was covered for both Turbos until 82K/7 yrs and HPFP until 120K/10 yrs. I updated some info with him and he said if I feel anything is wrong with the car to go to my local dealer. Nice to know BMW still stands behind there cars even if CPO or not.

I called my SA on Monday. I have an '07 e92 and they told me my vin wasn't in the listed recall. But they want to look at the car because the CPO should cover it if it's out of spec. I've never heard a set of turbos sound as bad as mine... They boost hard, but sound like shit if I don't have the waste gates set to 30 with my PROcede. I'm going FBO also. I figure if the stealershit doesn't want to do them I'll bump up my single turbo installation to X-Mas.
