Both cars look nice but I've got to say the E39 looks perfect in that shot. I'd like to treat myself to an E39 M5 one day, bloody love the look of the sport kit on those 5's. Am I right in saying that the kit is exactly the same on the sport and the M?

Yes, bodykit was the same on M5 and Sport, except for the door mirrors, the rear difuser (to accomodate the quad exhaust of the M5) and the front spoiler on the sport hat a t-bar as opposed to the M5s open mouth.
I had a 2001 530i Sport, it was and still is the best car Ive ever owned
