.: Euro Switch Mod :.
Part#: 61 31 6 932 796 euro switch out of the box: ![]() 1) Pry the Trim out. I used the screw driver that comes in the drunk. Start from the right side (speedo), then down the bottom edges, then to the left. ![]() 2)Once you got it a bit lifted, pull it out. dont be afraid to use some force. ![]() ![]() 3) Pic of the Trim removed. ![]() 4) Remove the entire panel that is connected with the Switch. Pull it right out. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() 5) Dis-connect the Switch. ![]() ![]() ![]() 6) Remove the switch from the panel. Replace it with the Euro Switch. connect, snap panel back and then snap trim back in to place as well, and.. WALLAH! it's easy as 1, 2, 3.. ![]() 7) TEST... ![]() **Will post lights in back when it gets a little darker. Too much sun.

finally did mine yesterday, took about 10 minutes total. One thing I would say is instead of pulling on these pieces, do more of a wiggling. They come out much nicer. Thanks for the diy to all who contributed to both threads.

I just did this mod in 5 minutes after the part arrived. I did have one question though, on my 07 e90, my original light switch had a recess feature where you could push the button into the housing, so your knee wouldn't hit it I guess. This part with the rear fog light switch does not have that feature.
Anyone else notice this or did I get a defective part?

Funny, I've been hitting it with my right knee, and I did the same thing, it popped into the recessed space and works like the original switch.

I get in my car weird I guess, trying not to "jump" into the seats and sometimes my foot slips on the all weather mats. Anyone wonder why it recesses in the first place?

Maybe somebody at BMW has really long legs? I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time product design is directly descendent from a pet peeve of one of the designers.

Interesting -- my original (US non-rear fog) switch doesn't recess, but the replacement (Euro rear fog) switch recesses! I thought maybe received a defective switch until I read this. Everything works fine.
Maybe it depends on the part vendor???

I was at the dealership yesterday, picking up a booklet for my Dad who is interested in a 328 sedan and that button wasn't recessed, nor could it be recessed. Maybe a design change, either way, it's very functional recessed.
