One thing that seems unsettling is the fact that if you have any kind of small frontal impact (as what happened to COLSEN) - both your side windows are gonna shatter in round you!!
![]() ![]() This must be because of the frameless doors. Surely if this is the case BMW should make these side windows out of EPG glass.

The ncap rating has been published for ages - try google or the brochure or bmw.co.uk etc
5* crash rating 1* pedestrian rating Everyone should have a good look before crossing the road in front of me then! |

No Euro N-cap results for E92
http://www.euroncap.com/tests/bmw_3_..._2005/225.aspx
Only for E90. Which it fared very well. I wonder if they didnt use the E92 number one because it wasnt out, and number two because it wouldnt come 0ut so well. Anyone have any links to any E92 crash tests? thanks

Carl,
Don't think they test each model in the range - on that page it says the following: VIN from which rating applies - applies to all new 3-series So assume that covers E9X..... |

It does not though mate, two different cars with different shells etc.
Funny how they chose the e90 though, which i would imagine would be stronger than the pillarless e92.

The E90 was out first, that's why it's crash rating is there. I can't remember where, but I have read that the E92 has the same crash rating as the E90.
Did you see the rating for the headrests though - 1 ! |

The e90 was out well before the e92 so it doesn't surprise me that the e90 was the one tested. And I don't mean to be picky here but I don't think the e92 can be called pillarless. It does have B pillars, just a bit further back.
