Hot spots on my flywheel?

I took over a lease assumtion had the car for about a Yr put about 10k milage on it, i live in queens ny so im in traffic alot and prob ride the clutch out alot when on parkway in stop and go traffic, Are hot spots on the flywheel and pressure plate normal? My clutch disk shows no sign of abuse but my dealer is refusing to cover the clutch under maintanance because of hot spot on the flywheel and are claiming that its from dumping the clutch and doing burn outs, ive only burnt out once when i first got the car and never did it again after that, ive got a 10 second mustang dedicated track car so i dont really see the point in burning out a 300hp car, and im sure that one burn out didnt cause hot spots on my clutch pressure plate and flywheel, can some one give me theyre input? From what i know the clutch are friction parts and some wear and hotspots are normal over time ( i have 34,000 miles) but my dealer claims dual mass fly wheels are diferent from other clutches i have owned, like in my mustang, 350z or my maxima, are hot spots cause to deny clutch replacement?

Hi,

i hope my English is good enough that you understand me

Those hotspots are like sandpaper - in worst case your disc will be slipping after a few kilometers - but this really depends on how many burnouts you has got done - one is certainly no problem and two or three also.

In Germany we use another facing for these problems and everyone is happy :-) because many BMW has got such a problem, also E46 etc.

Greetings

Thats bullshit. Dealer is jerking you. Throw shit balls back at their bullshit and explain to them their "theory" of abuse is absolute bullshit. Explain what a CDV is and how it works or change dealers.

They are tools.

Hotspots happen on ANY clutch, street or track. Seems like they're less severe on track cars (not drag racing), since you're typically shifting quickly and not slipping the clutch to start slowly. We see dark marks on flywheels and pressure plates all the time - has little to do with abuse of the clutch, just smooth engagement to not upset passengers or bog the engine.

Yea thats what i thought, but ive never pulled a clutch that was still good and most of the cars ive worked on were abused, i brought the fact that hotspots are normal wear on a flywheel and that aslong as its not cracked it wasnt from excessive heat so it couldnt mean abuse and they pretty much told me i could pay 1000 for the fly wheel or i could argue with them and pay the full 4400 clutch job, so im juss gonna pay for the flywheel cuz i dont want a half assed job, its crazy tho that clutch is covered under maintenance but the flywheel isnt? How the f do u do a clutch job with out refacing the flywheel or replacing it, from jobs ive done thats a big no no and will ruin a brand new clutch plate real fast.

Which dealer do you use? Are u in Suffolk or Nassau?

I did just that and all they kept saying is well ur tires are kinda worn, I even proved it was normal wear on the flywheel, sometimes ur fighting a loosing battle I juss want the car fixed right their first quote of 4400 was crazy, we settled on 1100 I'm aware it's all just bs, they told me they don't reface or replace with new fly wheels when they cover the clutch under maintaince which I find to be crazy, either way 1100 is better then replacing the clutch and flywheel myself And now I know everything's new n won't b f'd up
