Social media is the vessel that many of these bullies use to inflict so much pain on others with, honestly I think that sites like facebook and myspace are causing more damage than they are worth, especially for kids and teenagers, this is so sad. The kids who were harassing her sound like pure evil. That one dude should have his wigg split! Fucking cowards talking sht behind computer screens, there's no worse kind of scum, and social network enables these kids to do it anonymously.

+1000

Being anonymous (essentially) behind a computer makes it so easy to say things that you'd never say to someone's face. It's horrible what these kids are doing to each other. Truly a shame.

I'm not one for more laws, but one really needs to be passed, at a national level, that makes bullying and cyberbullying a crime. And if the victim commits suicide then the instigator can be charged with murder.

Enough is enough with this shit already.

This is so sad, and hopefully the bullies receive some sort of punishment. I was reading about it on CNN earlier, and some of the comments people leave are sickening.

Terribly sad. I am sure there is more to her tragic story that we will probably never know that lead up to this.

qq RIP. I wish schools were more proactive with bullying and talking to kids. They should learn that what people say online is bullshit 99% of the time. I learned it when I first started playing video games online on Xbox Live and people were calling me ******,gay, noob, etc.

I think its differently for guys and girls. As a guy, I cared less what they said because I knew I was playing online and those people were retards. However, I can totally see how a girl can take it personally. My sister stopped playing xbox because she said people would send her mean messages that she took personally and just didn't want to deal with it anymore. One guy sent her one a message that was like "Wow why the hell are you on xbox you are a fucking girl you suck go back to the kitchen you shouldn't even be allowed to watch TV".

Now that I am grown up, almost all the people who bullied me when I was little work at mcdonalds or somewhere shitty. I got the final laugh muahaha.

On a serious note, there are generally 3 types of people who get bullied.

Some people(like me) take the bullying to make themselves better people. If I had not gotten bullied when I was little I don' think I would be the awesome person I am today.

Other people just ignore bullying. They have better things to do. It does go away eventually. I haven't even seen any one of my bullys since high school.

Then other people unfortunately take it to themselves and suicide. We need to prevent this from happening. Most bullying only occurs during young ages. As adults we learn to just ignore dumbasses because they aren't worth our time

RIP

The problem is kids are not allow to kick each other asses on the play ground, so what happens is you get the verbal attack continually and these kids have no outlet for their frustrations with one another.

I too got picked on and pounded a few kids asses and guess what it stops and people leave you alone since no one wants their asses kick in front of their friends.

Plus you never hear the saving "Stick and Stone my brake my bones but names never hurt" Kids never learn to grow thick skin these days since they been told to always play nice, well this what you get.

+1 I was wondering the same. From what I got from it, they were divorced, but at some point it seems like they should have been able to help her more than what little we know.

Also, for all we know, they were doing everything they could to help her (it did look like they moved her from schools that these problems were happening in).

Its not worth speculating. However, suicide is not typically an action of a person who feels loved and has a family that is doing all they can do to help. If I was betting I would say it was more like 'I don't know what else to do, you take her...' and so on. While it feels distasteful, the only way that something positive can come out of this is to talk about how she felt like suicide was the only thing she could do.

I would agree. Parents are the true perpetrators, being a victim is learnt, if you never picked it up somewhere, no one could bully you. Everything that happens in school, or later on anywhere in life, is a product of upbringing (the parents).
Back when there was no internet, I was a nerd who on the surface made an easy victim, but anybody who was foolish enough to try, got brutally met as in my family force is always met with force, perhaps even foolishly with no consideration to body size. I have an older sibling who was always physically large but physically picked on occasionaly, because he never fought back, because that was his 'role' at home.

Me too man. My daughter just turned 7, and the thought of what she will have to face once she is older, terrifies me. When someone picks on her, my instant reaction is to level them.
