options on my e90

Hi Guys i have just sold my x5 3.0d sport and have on order a new 2008 spec 325d msport auto i do around 3k a year mileage any suggestions on extras
auto box with paddles
black leather
xenons
light washers
sparkling graphite -my wifes choice i prefer tit silver
grey top tint to windsceen

I quite like the idea of nav -i drive but i dont go any where to use it but it looks so cool

what about sunroof ? does any one have any suggestions
i will keep this for 3 years and also as i found out with my x5 px no one cares how much you spend on extras its just book price (trade) so i dont really want to buy anything i dont see a return on is nav worth 1970gbp? minus 11% of course

light washers are standard right?

whats tit silver? i like boobs!!!

i would say go with nav cuz you will end up using it a few times just not everyday, but who on earth uses it everyday?

it will help with residules too matey

dont do the sunroof!!! you wont need it and TBH i always thought bmw's looked silly with them, its more of a 'hatch' thing....

not sure

when i used the bmw car configurator the options page if you tick xenons it then has a note saying with this option you must have light washers at a extra 185 gbp but on my official spec sheet from bmw it is a no cost option so i aint sure what about folding mirrors and front parking sensors ???

dont worry about the front parking sensors, if it comes standard with rears, you dont really need em at the front

you will have to ask them about the washers then? no cost but the 185 quid???

folding mirrors are neat but i think they should be standard really!!

gives you a bit of peace of mind if you have to park onthe side of the road at any time!

Scooba: According to my E90 pricelist brochure Xenon (option 522) "includes option 502, Headlight wash". I also went with option 430 (£210) which includes folding mirrors, interior lights package, auto dimming rear view mirror, key-dependent memory function for exterior mirrors, etc. Front parking sensors (option 508) are an extra £285.

on my price list it shows xenons are £ 615 and when you tick the option it adds washers at £185 bringing total to £800 a lot of money for headlights ? bearing in mind its a cost on top and your car comes with headlights anyway are they worth it ??
the invoice sheet from bmw just shows a charge for xenons at 615 washers no cost option so i dont know the answer

In the EU Xenons must have headlamp washers as standard otherwise it will fail EU type approval.

The reason is that Xenons require a clean lense to focus the beam.
If the lense is dirty then the beam can cause a dazzling effect.

If you fit aftermarket units you must fit them - unless you fancy invalidating your insurance and dazzling oncoming cars/lorries who might happen to crash into you as they can't see where they are going.

Talking to a colleague with Xenons on a 07 E90 the washers seem to have a life of their own when the lights are on.

I'd have Xenons anyday - wish I paid the extra. the standard lights are crap.
i've done the poor mans route by fitting Philips superbright (or whatever they are called) bulbs. Bit better but no match for the real mccoy.

6fl is to connect your iPod to your car hi-fi. If you've got i-drive you can control the iPod thru it. I don't have an iPod so I didn't bother - don't like the compressed sound. Pro Nav I like, but do you really want to spend the money on it???

Invoice sheet is right. No way it's £800. Anyway, I went with Adaptive headlights - includes xenon, headlamp wash and rain sensor and auto headlight activation. Cost £715 less 14% discount. 325d M-Sport price £900 less discount.

Each to there own re options, after years of BMW ownership I have found not to go over the top with options if you intend to trade in, benifits the new owner and the dealers. Go for high spec standard, that said I raked up approx £5k this time around on my vert. Front PDC I find a plus, folding mirrors would be much better with auto folding from fob.

In this month's Time magazine there is a special article on the BMW plant in Leipzig. It reports that BMW are able to change any options upto six days before the production slot. They are the only mass production car manufacturer able to do so. They have compared Toyota to BMW, however BMW can alter the spec of theirs cars on the fly according to each individuals taste so one car is a alike. It also points out how they got round the ultra strict unions IG Metall by getting perma temps who don't get the bonuses which the BMW guys & gals get.

If you only do 3k a year, I would limit the options and therefore cost of the car
