squeaking brakes

By brakes have started squeaking recently. ive done 32000 miles and not sure if pads/discs have been done (bought it second hand at 24000). It could be the colder weather as there is no noise when braking hard. only during gentle braking?

Whats your thoughts?

Squeal is almost always caused by vibration between the pad and the caliper/carrier assembly.

First port of call should be to strip the brakes, apply copper grease and reassemble.

If you're not comfortable doing it yourself, any garage in the world will do it in less than an hour.

^^

100% agree. It's usually where the back of the brake pad meets against the Caliper, just needs a little copper grease dabbed on.

It's an easy DIY job TBH

Forgot to say, I stripped my brakes and changed the pads earlier this year and its very easy to do using one of the guides from a BMW forum.

when talking about this, do you mean the metal "hook" that scrapes the disc when the pad is worn?

Ill hopefully get it up and get the wheels off at the weekend and have a look.
