Help, Limp mode, weird icon display.
Hellol, today when i started my car up i notice the car was running strange.
It felt like it lost allot of power and on the gauge cluster were the time is normal on display a weird picutre was showing half in yellow, It kinda looked like a fire hydrant valve. What could be wrong? I drove around a couple blocks and stoped and turned off the engine, and turned it back on, and the display on the cluster disaperd and the car is running normal again, i wonder what could be wrong. |

That is exactly the picture I got - 10 minutes later I had a dead fuel pump. May as well drive it right to the dealership and get ready for a long wait.
I'm going to make BMW do something to rectify this. Make a payment or two - something. My car was 3 weeks old when it died and for 45k I have to admit I'm angry. Save yourself the tow - just take it in. Dean |

ALSO, most importantly, you may not be hitting ur boost targets. Try the 1.47LBT first before accessing other possibilities. This seems to have worked for many esp at higher altitudes. Cheers. |

Do u need to lock the car to do that or just close the car doors and ensure all lights are off? What abt those with comfort access. Just move the key away from the site till u are done right? |

Hi
I know it is not mandatory for installing a PROcede but disconnecting the battery could avoid some issues. Most settings of the car's electronic equipment will remain. Eugen |

Thanks yall for the replies.
The next day the car took 10 seconds to get the car to start, it died out on me twice on the highway, and it was so bad in stop and go traffic i had to foot stall it with the gas and brake to keep it from shuting down (auto). The car is bone stock, with only 4000 miles. I hope the fuel pump going dead did not cause a extreme lean condition and harmed the motor somwhat. Took the car to bmw and got a loaner. |

Glad you're ok. BMW could have had a major wrongful death suit on their hands due to these pumps...

Indeed. I'm kinda surprised they haven't simply had some kind of recall on them, given the bad position it can leave drivers in.

In order to have a recall, they need to have the ultimate fix for the problem but I really don't think they do.
Look at this example. They replace a pump with another one that fails. Why have a recall with changing everybody's pumps if they have the same liklihood of failing?
