Details please.
BMW just cannot sell a car promising certain performance characteristics then just take it away later. That is against the law, at least here in the US. |

Saw a post on the 'fest indicating this recall might be unique to Canada. It was described by the dealer as "recalibrate the torque limiter, increase throttle response/over all torque band thru the rpm's but will not let engine red line or go to very high rpm's". Hopefully we'll get a scan of a work order soon.

If we get less torque and less MPG, I'm thinking class action is coming (probably not enough of us that would complain). I don't like the last software upgrade - my car never had a problem.

I think 1 flash-back is free. Then it's around $100.

Just went to my dealer (MA,US) and there is software campaign 0013130200 - B13 04 12, E70 E90 M57 Programing. My dealer was ok for me not getting it this time. They couldn't tell me what is fixing or changing.

I don't *think* that is the same recall as the one in question here. Take a look at this thread: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=758683
That appears to be the same recall as the one your dealer mentioned. Having said all that, we don't have any BMW paperwork for this 'torque recall', so we can't say definitively that these 2 recalls are or aren't the same.

So I called my dealer to make an appointment and it turns out this recall has been recalled.
The programming is going to be revised because some of the cars which were programmed are having issues starting. The picture below is what the SA gave me when he first told me about the recall. |

^ Glad I didn't get it. Now with that I will make sure to not let the BMW dealer do any SW updates.

Sounds like were getting close to the DME program dejure. I do have the latest version (guess the one that has been recalled). Was updated last week. So far zero issues...

I will be at the dealer on Monday due to an SES light that was being triggered seemingly having to do with fueling. I have a funny suspicion that it was caused by the last updated programming. They better get this right soon or I am going to be seriously irked.
Needless to say, I will also be inquiring about extended warranty options, but it will only take me another 1.5 years to hit 100k, so that averts so a minimal amount of risk. Anyone know what the BMW policy is on out of warranty software changes. If you were out of warranty, would you have to pay for each of these "fixes" (obviously I am using that term as generously as possible)? I will update the appropriate thread when I get back the details of the diagnosis. |

I had this update done on August 12, 2013 and I can report that my fuel consumption went from arround 850-900 km per tank to about 550-600 max kmo per tank which means an increase of 60%
THis is unacceptable I called the dealer for an appointment to see what are they going to do to fix this matter. Will update once I get the car back. |
