My sound system is nearly complete
Some of you may not like such things, but for those who does, here is the final frame work. It has been a challenge over 6 months, to learn about how the acoustics work in the E92 (which is very different to my previous E46). A few trials and errors, but I'm happy we've cracked it.
The boot install is 99% complete, we just have to spray paint the amp racks in black. Then to get my Ipod kit and an external voice guidance speaker set up (as I'm using the Alpine PXA-H701 sound processor, voice guidance doesn't come from the main speakers). Big thanks to Andy of Ice Cold Audio for all his hardwork and attention to detail. The system sounds absolutely fantastic (as those who heard it in person yesterday at Gaydon would testify). The E92 is a difficult car to crack acoustically, but Andy has done it. And given how fussy I am with my in-car Hi-Fidelity, I rate his work 100%. Check out my boot install. My criteria is a neat install but with enough space left to put my golf bag, and I want to use the factory allocated storage compartments. Other than the headunit, the rest of the interior remains OEM. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

It's a ski-hatch (but I don't ski .... lol). I specced the car with this sound system in mind. It's brilliant as it allows the sub to fire directly into the cabin, minimising the need to sound deaden the boot and there is hardly any rattle.

That is the most impressive installation I have seen yet.
Could you post or PM me on the details of the system: including the speaker box (custom built or factory); the wattage on the amplifier; and are you using the BMW OEM interior speakers? |

Check out this thread:
http://forum.evotechnik.net/showthread.php?t=13558 It is a fascinating (and detailed) read, and will give you a small incling as to how much work and ingenuity has gone into this installation. It is inspirational stuff to anyone that loves their in-car hi-fi and has reignited my desire to get something special (albeit not to this standard) in my E92 when it gets here at the end of the month.
