brake fluid : how urgent

The dash is showing a yellow square. I think it's the break fluid, but I'm not sure what needs to be done - Whether it the car needs some more brake fluid or whether I need to flush the system completely.

Is this something that requires immediate attention?

Can anyone reccomend a decent brake fluid?

Thanks,
Owen

Only if you want to be able to stop when you want to.

Any DOT 4 fluid will be OK

First you're best to verify exactly what is service item is being flagged up via the idrive or OBC...

If it is brake fluid (fixed service item every 2 years) then it needs a full flush and new fluid, 2 litres will be enough to flush properly and refill.

Is your car 2, 4 or 6 years old?

its saying the brake fluid and giving this month as the due date so i would assume its time for the "2 year flush"

shes on a 58 plate so around the 4 year mark then .

Its just a reminder so you can visit the dealership. They will inspect your pad lining and if they are worn/out of specs they will sell you a brake job. If pads linings are in good condition they will just turn off the reminder light. I have over 80k and have about 70% front and 30% rears, I turned off the reminder with the control stalk. Theres a DIY for that in here or on youtube.

Only if your tracking it mate with the risk of boiling the brake fluid. Can't see it being much benefit on the road
