F#@&$%#@*%^ !!!

Waited 9 weeks for my car to arrive and of course interior trim was wrong color...Burlnut instead of Light Poplar. Not a huge deal to some, but i had spent literally weeks (including driving to 5 dealerships to look at actual samples...not easy to do in DE) deciding on this option alone. Dealer showed little if any remorse, and only option was to take car or re-order. I could not re-order b/c i know i am about to have serious problems with my current e36 so am going to try to swap with someone. If anyone is interested please let me know asap.

Also, the dealer told me it would cost THEM over 2k to replace...this has to be some more BS...right? Does anyone know the actual cost so i can try to get them to cover a portion of it...in the event nobody will swap? Thanks for your help...it is amazing at how 2 months of anticipation is ruined so easily by a simple mistake.

Thats BS, tell them your ordered it, and for them to order your trim and install it.

Or alternativly, you can see If anyone here wants to trade, and do it yourself.

Ask the dealer to do a trim swap with a demo car. Happens all the time here.

that's b.s. tell your dealer to go f**k themself. sorry, but i hate it when dealers try to screw people over.

If it's worth it to you, my cousin just bought a 335i and he wanted burlwood and dealer f'ed up and got Light Poplar instead. they are changing it out for him, i can tell him to hold on tight if you want drive down to southern virginia and switch it out.

Tell them you have waited 9 weeks for your car, THEY got the order wrong so THEY BETTER fix it now. Tell them you have been renting a car and paying for it for 9 weeks and you want your car the way you ordered it, and you will not take no for an answer.

They them to A)order you the tim color and install it for free, and if they charge you for the piece or installation, they will have to speak to your lawyer.
b)get a demo with your trim and exchange it.

Don't take their shit.

why did you have to drive to 5 dealerships to look at trim samples?

id say fuck this dealer and call Adrian Avilla at Nalley BMW. He will track down a car built the way you want it and ill bet you a dollar will give you a better price than the clowns youre dealing with now.

He tracked down the very last 06 m3 spec'ed the way i wanted it, and shipped to my door would still have been thousands less than any other dealer would have given me even if i picked it up myself.

Everyone gets soooooo upset whenever a dealer makes a mistake. They have offered you 2 solutions either take the car as is, or re-order the car. End of story no point shouting about it. If it was me I would try and swap it with an in stock car which is no biggy and you could split the labor with them should be about 3-4 hours. Everybody makes mistakes, and there is not enough money in a 3 to cover this kind of thing. No one works for free or at a loss, so be a grown up and work something out

THanks

First, thanks for the advice for the most part...most everyone has been pretty helpful...i worked for over 3 hours to try to get them to order new trim package and they wouldn't even consider...they did offer me rubber floor mats but who gives a f@#% about rubber floor mats...i am not complaining b/c i want something thrown in, but rather b/c i just want what i ordered/paid for. The right thing to do is different than the profitable...i understand that...that is the reason why i am trying to find someone to swap...thanks for the idea of swapping with an ordered demo...shit, i'll pay for the entire labor...i just want to be happy when i get into my car.

As far as being "grown up"...don't worry, i haven't started crying yet. I'm sure you would be thrilled with it if it happened to you.

THanks to everyone else though...i will try everything posted.

i agree that people overreact about dealer mishaps on this board, but why the fuck should you have to split the labor for a dealer to fix their mistake?

That sucks man. But let me guess...you ordered an e92..your sig only says 335i.

If you had ordered any other car, they would work hard to make you happy and ensure you would still take the car. But because you are getting at TT car...they are in high demand. They know they can turn around and sell that thing, probably for more profit than they will get by dealing with you. So, yeah, they want you to take it in the a$$ or reorder.

Unfortunately, you do not have alot of pull if you really want to keep the car. Try to see if they will swap out the trip with another car on the lot....loaners are a good source. If they are not willing, see if they will at least order you a new set that you can swap out later.

If it were me...I would tell them to go the hell and walk out of the deal. I would go to a different dealership to order the car the way I want. Yeah, it sucks, to have to wait...if they treat you like this now....image how they will treat you if your fuel pump goes out later.

You need to give a little to get what you want thats all I am saying. It is the dealers fault for not ordering the car right. However you can track and check your order on line. I feel bad if I make a mistake but I am not going to lose my job, for anything. Dragon1979 I was not saying for you to be a grown up just the idiots on here that all chime in with all the usual crapola -THEY BETTER fix it - they are a bunch of crooks -UR STEALERSHIP SHOULD INSTALL IT FOR FREE.
I threw a friend of mines brother out of here on Monday after he picked up his car 328xic and I explained runflats he comes back and says that I never said a word and that we are going to pay for a tire and jack. Demanding gets you no where.

id say giving the $40k+ for the car is "giving" enough. why should you have to give any more?

and tracking online is worthless. OC listed my car as having grey poplar trim even though I ordered (and got) aluminum.

im glad you werent my CA.

Sorry about your misfortune. I had the same thiing happen to me, but as magmd says, you're pretty much screwed if your dealer isn't willing to work with you because they know the car won't sit on their lot for long.

I've read about this same issue happening to at least 5 other people on this forum since I ordered my first car at the end of 2006 and I'd say at least 3 of them had the dealer install the correct trim at no charge, which is the correct thing to do so there is hope. Good luck!

In my case, the dealer gave me the same options you got: take it and shut up or reorder and wait another 3 fucking months. They wouldn't even give me an additional discount on my E92 even though they admitted it was their screw up and if I ordered an E93 instead of an E92 they wanted MSRP so I decided I did not want to continue dealing with this establishment and ordered an E93 from another dealer and got it built correctly. The original dealer/saleman didn't care though because they sold the E92 I turned down 5 minutes after I walked out and probably sold it for at least $2K more than I was going to pay, but do you think I or anyone I know will ever do business with Braman again? Probably not.

I already took the car because i knew it would be gone today if i had not...you're right about the coupe no sedan...so no bargaining chips...i got 2k under msrp so I knew they wouldn't budge...i would've loved to tell them to go F themselves, but i just cannot wait...i figured i may be able to get them to work with me somehow on swapping out the trim. So all i am left with, i guess is swapping with someone else, or hoping they can order a demo with that wood to get them to swap...are they still able to get demo's...the reason i had to go to lots of dealers is because these just aren't on the lots around here...anyone with any clue as to the chances of swapping with someone on this site? Light poplar isn't the most common of colors...probably the least common (kinda why i want it). thanks.

Thats just typical I love it. The person that beats up the most on the price of the car gets screwed. No wonder they won't do anything for you.
As far as "im glad you werent my CA" I really am not to cut up about that as a mini deal to me is a waste of time, I am in a very affluent area where people are glad to pay a little more for the service they recieve from me. Had this gentleman not beaten the price down so low the dealer may have had some gross left to cover his mistake.

That's just poor attitude anderson. This guy paid for his car and is a customer of the dealership. His final price on the vehicle should not have any bias towards his problem. Just because people bargain down the price on a car does not make them any less well off. Also, reading this thread, it's not his mistake but that of BMW AG and I'm sure the dealership can help him out and be reimbursed by BMW easily. This isn't a matter of "good will" service but correct a mistake made by that of BMW.

As a customer, you are entitled to get exavtly what you ordered and paid for!(granted you have paperwork etc. to prove that you did in fact order a certain spec.) Any cost of correction etc. is NOT your problem...Simply have them correct it for you or buy somewhere else.
