There is a large community of people running older BMW diesels here:

www.bmwland.co.uk

From what I have seen there are a few people with problems with MAF sensors and the odd blown turbo, but for the most part things look good.

Also, the torch batteries run out after excessive use. You should only use the torch for emergencies...

Strangely the torch batteries in the 335d last longer than in the 335i...

Apparently, the 335d torch bulb takes a while to reach maximum brightness, but once it's there, it lasts almost for ever.

The 335i torch bulb brightens quicker & just looks a whole lot brighter, but needs re-charging more often, apparently!

Stop mentioning the torch ... it upsets me ... I'm off for a cry now.

I remember reading somewhere that all of the 335d's in essex are programmed to explode after 100,000 miles.

Would it be presumptuous of me to think that the 'tractor' boys therefore 'smell' worse than us 'petrol revvers'?

Their foul clattery perfume pervades the air wheresoever they choose to go in their evil stinky vehicles.

I bet they all secretly want to tow a caravan up the M5.

Anti social to a man.

Do you mean 'dirty foof hand' ?

Probably worse than stinky diesel hand - but I still reckon you've got a caravan.

Don't get cocky talking about your sweet smelling pump - ours has more girth and lasts far longer.

as well as leaving a dirty great stain down the side of her aswell

bit like leaving a scent, or ''making your mark'' on her? (her could be a diesel e9x, or a human of the female variety)

I haven't got a caravan, but have a trailer (for my Quad). Still working on how to fit a tow bar without cutting a huge hole in the M-Sport valance

Gloves are for girlies

Had the unfortunate experience of filling up at BP South Mimms (J23 M25) recently, no regular Diesel only Ultimate. Was going to fill-up to the brim, but when the price came up on the pump, I nearly passed-out 105.99p/litre Being mean, I only put a tenner in and that still lasted my trip home and back to the office on Monday (over 150 miles)

Bit like a swarm of flies around a particularly potent dog turd on a hot day? Or am I being harsh here and it's the smell of your diesel that has this effect?!.

I gather than 'swarming' is an essex colloquialism for projectile vomiting
