Eisenmann Race/Sport with all cats
I have a question for you guys. I have a '08 335i AT. Just supposely had an Eisenmann (authentic) Race exhaust installed. I think they made the wrong version because I think I got the Sport version. It's super quiet and barely louder than stock.
IND Dist recommends I give it 1500 miles to break in to burn off some material in the mufflers. Are the Race version just loud off the bat brand new? And, if I delete my 2nd cats, will this make it louder? Right now I have stock DPs, stock 2nd cats. No drone at all, sound is solid but just too quiet. thanks. |

The notorious e-race you are referring to is no longer manufactured. They have replaced it with a very toned down version (still authentic!).
I cannot comment on how the removal of cats will affect sound as I have the original e-race. GL

True, eisenmann started toning down the race mufflers less than 2 or 3 years ago? My race muffler was made 7 years ago. But break it in more, delete your 2nd cats, it will make it louder no doubt. More sound with a cone intake too.

So I suppose I may have the race version, it's just toned down? Horrible because I thought the Race version was still the old ones I heard from other cars and wanted that exact sound.
I'll give it that 1500+ miles and hopefully if removing the 2nd cats makes it louder but not degrade the solid sound it has. Have the intake and tune already but it's still quiet |

So it was confirmed I have the race version. Well it's not what I expected as it's a little louder than stock. Guess I'll give it a little break in period and try something with the 2nd cats.
Do you guys recommend just removing the 2nd cats or replacing it with hi flow cats or will that not even make the sound more louder? I want it to be a little louder but to retain the same solid low rumble it produces at low rpm and screams at high rpm. |

The secondaries removed will make it somewhat louder. Also introduces a little snap, crackle and pop.

I think I'll go catless DPs first and that will motivate me to get the tune I've been wanting to get and if still not satisfied then 2nd cat delete. Any downsides to DP + 2nd delete (aside from legalities)?

I've heard that complaint before... I think if I'm satisfied with the sound I could tolerate the smell. Also read about health precautions with this but I don't want to get into that.

Countless threads on this board saying Eisenmann on 335i is quiet...
You should have read some of them...
