Are you using a regulkar phone or a PC / PDA / smartphone ??

If a PC / PDA / Smartphone I have found that the PDA function needs to be on to allow the phonebook to get transmitted.

Also - I have found that my PC phone works much better with the Jetware bluetooth application installed.

BMW's website lists all compatible phones.

Make sure your phone s/w is updated (check the mfgr website). Back when the E90 first came out, some people were having trouble getting Blackberries to upload the phone book. Then Blackberry came out with updated OS software, and suddenly, it worked perfectly.
