Changing to LED AA's in e90 LCI (Halogen)

Does this require removing the entire headlight? The only DIY I could find involved removing the entire headlight and I was wondering if anyone on here has installed their LEDs into a LCI Halogen headlight and how easy the process was.

Not that hard, best way to do it is through the wheel well. Take off the front wheel, remove the front wheel well liner. This exposes the entire rear of the headlight housing. Makes it easy at this point
