6FL with Creative Zen Vision mp3 players. Does it work??
I've STFA and while it's been metioned a few times, there has not been a clear cut answer whether the Creative Zen Vision player works w/ the 6FL. Does anyone currently use this setup? I don't want to purchase an ipod as I'm not a fan of apple products.

I'm a little behind the 8 ball here. What is 6FL? I've searched and have been unable to find anything other than the name "6FL" everywhere.
I have a Zen MP3 player and would be in heaven if I could get it to work with my car so that I could browse it through the iDrive but I'm about 95% sure that I'm SOL... |

6FL is the code for the factory-installed iPod/USB adapter, available on post-3/2007 cars.
I'm not a fan of Apple products either. I plan on using it with just a regular USB thumb drive. When you connect the Creative player to your PC, does it show up as a regular drive letter with MP3 files on it? If so it should work with the 6FL option. |

How about a 100 Gig thumb drive?
Quote:
So I went to ebay to look for large thumb drives and ran across both an IBM and Sony large 80 to 100 Gig drives for around $100. These hook-up like thumb drives and are powered by the usb cable. I'm thinking that these would be great additions to our cars and not have the heat related battery issues. They also look like they would fit in the center console iPod holder very nicely. I would welcome anybody's comments or suggestions and/or better yet anyones direct experience. I didn't do a search so I hope that I am not rehashing old topics. So after posting this, I did do a search and found out that the drives don't work because the power provided on the usb port is insufficient to get the drive started. I think that when I get my car I will try and see if a powered usb port could be used to boost the current required to get the drive started. Unfortunately, it will be a few months before I can try this since I don't get delivery of my car until 3 week in October.

How much space do you really need for your collection? I just purchased a 16GB USB flash drive. Luckily I have about 15.5GB of music right now. A small flash-based drive certainly doesn't take much power.
If you aren't taking delivery until October, maybe the flash drives will be up to 24-32GB by then. |
