CDN cost for OEM parts...
I just called one of the dealerships here to find out the actual cost of these parts, and its definetly cheaper to purchase from the states and have them shipped to us.
Blacklines = 475.XX cdn before tax Alarm = 407.56 cdn before tax Talk about getting ripped here... going to order my things now! Sorry if this is a repost but... man this $hit just bugs me! |

I got price quotes for all my OEM mods in Canada, I ended up getting all of them either from Crown and Tischer BMW. Prices are a LOT cheaper than what is quoted in US. In some cases, almost 50% less...

I just ordered the OEM short shifter from my local dealer. Although Tischer sells it for $108 US and my dealer sells it for $179.50, I calculated that after shipping, taxes, duty, brokerage fees, etc, I would only save around $25 in the end (and I could get it the next day). Let's say I use a 1.05 -> 1.00 exchange rate:
$113.40 - Short shifter $12.57 - Shipping $15.88 - GST/PST $7.76 - Duty $29.00 - Brokerage fees $2.03 - Tax on brokerage fees -------- $180.64  I think if you're buying anything that's around $100 or less and if you're impatient like me, then it almost makes more sense to just buy it locally.

He said that they are in the process of getting carriers other than UPS, but he doesn't expect that to happen for another month or two.

We should ask Tischer to ship everything USPS from now on. Brokerage fee (charged by Candaa Post) is only something like $5 and a lot of times Canada Customs don't even charge that or PST/GST.
