Meguiars Wheel Brightener

How strong is this stuff? I have road residue and brake dust that is CAKED on and can't be removed with simple products. I've tried multiple products and nothing is working what so ever.

Sonax wheel cleaner is the best product, usually takes everything off

It is acid based. I only use this as a last resort. Have you try Sonax????

Can I find Sonax wheel cleaner locally (Memphis)? Or will I need to purchase it online?

I'm assuming acid based products are difficult to work with and can ruin your wheels if you don't know what your doing?

IronX over Sonax, ironx stinks like a sewer but works just as sonax if not better. I have both so I combine them when I have really dirty wheels. Search the forums, you'll see pictures of people using them, I think I made a thread about them too.

The first Sonax sold in US wasn't smelling any better. The later versions had a lemon smell added.

But to answer OP's question, no to Megs, try Sonax first.

All products stated are good. They all have their own weaknesses and strengths.

I have quite a few of them (CarPro IronX, Sonax, Meg 140, CarPro Trix, P21s, CG Diablo). Like I said earlier.... Meg D140 should be your last resort but if you diluted 10 to 1 (distilled water to D140) it should be fine for most except aluminum or anodized wheels.

Sonax is a strong wheel cleaner but Iron X and Trix could be use on all painted surface (be careful with the plastic/rubber trim pieces while using these 2 products).

Once the wheels are clean, put several coats of a premium sealant on them and you would not have to go through this every month. The sealant will make future cleaning so much easier. You will be able to knock the dust off with a pressure washer or a wipe down with a rinse-less wash (ONR).

+1 on detailed image, I've bought over $200 worth of stuff from them in a year, whatever I bought didn't let me down.

Have you tried removing the wheels and claying them? Megs WB works well as a last resort, couple tips only on cold wheels if their hot from driving do not do it, always flush the wheels liberally with water before the WB, do one wheel at a time do not let WB dry and lastly never ever ever on uncoated aluminum or magnesium wheels period. I always try other stuff first as it can etch or cause clear coat issues if used improperly. I learned once the hard way along time ago.

Got my bottle of Sonax in the mail today and I am removing my wheels tomorrow to clean. I will leave a full review on the product, although there are tons of reviews on this forum already.

What is the best coating I should put on after I clean it to minimize the brake dust for the future?
