I have a 325d and have found recently (maybe because its cold) that the engine pulses until warm.

When I mean pulse, whilst stationary and sometimes feel when accelerating away, you can feel the car blipping like a pulse. Does not happen consistantly but my blip every 20 secs or so.

Any ideas?

Do you mean the car feels slightly jerky in lower gears when you take my foot off the throttle. The car also slightly judders continuously when stationary, you can hardly feel it but its there

You start the car, let it idle and whilst sitting there you get like a slightly jolt come through the seat. I think it does happen through lower gears aswell. Again...seems only when engine is cold.

I've got exactly the same on my 325d E92, first few seconds from cold is where I notice it the most, I was planning on uploading a short video of it when I remember, as so far no one has been able to help with this

The same happens to mine on cold start, from what I've read it appears to be normal

I took my car to BMW 2 weeks ago for the security sofeware update and they said there was a recall outstanding on my car for the injector. Thats the cause of the juddering and jerkiness in low gears

As part of the recall BMW have changed 3 injectors, 6 Buffers & 3 Gasket Rings. That was £600 pounds worth of work paid by BMW HQ.

The jerkyness in low gears is solved but its still slightly juddery on idle but that doesnt bother me that much, lets me know that I'm sat behind a powerful machine!

Mine is a diesel automatic. It didn't do it this morning, and it's much warmer here, so I'm thinking it could be a coil problem on or more cylinders maybe?

It's been in for a service last week, so hopefully any outstanding recalls would have been dealt with?

We're talking about diesels here, no coils or ignition system as per the 335i....

Sorry, I really meant glow plug, not coil

No I wouldn't have thought the glow plugs could cause a variation in idle speed once the engine has warmed slightly. They are only used these days on modern CI engines to achieve clean combustion quality at low temperatures - not as a starting aid as they used to be on older indirect engines.

Mine, at times, can be a bit lumpy of left idling from cold - I just start and drive, it is never a problem.

There's definitely a problem with mine from a very cold start, it's never been like this before, but on a cold start now the engine is very lumpy, and if I try and drive off it remains lumpy for about 20 seconds, I don't get a glow plug light though? My wife's very often has the light on at startup (320d lci)

Mines a manual. Brought from a BMW dealer and never really noticed the problem until the cold weather started to set in.

Diagnostics will highlight any glow plugs out

My car has just had it's third oil service, wouldn't it have been pulled up for a faulty glow plug then?
