Been googling but can someone confirm how I go about removing the top panel from the centre console ( eg the bit with the I drive knob in it)

I have changed the colour of my interior from grey to black and am going to dye the grey extended leather sides of the centre console to black so just need to lift the centre console panel up enough to allow access to dye.

It's an e92 with 6 speed manual.

I removed it on my e91 to wrap it with vinyl, I assume its a similar process with the e92.

Remove the gear knob, just pull it straight up, then unclip and remove the gaiter. After that the centre trim should just be able to be pulled straight up, its well stuck on but just pull it straight up. Mine doesn't have idrive but I believe its only 1 wire underneath you need to disconnect.

Not the best explanation but hope it helps

Take your time lift each side up slowly as the clips snap off easily. I made the mistake and snaped a couple of clips on mine and you can't eevn glue them back on.

I bough some spray but that didn't go well, so bought some leather dye to be applied by a sponge.

So basically, just lift the panel up? Remove the gear gaitor and handbrake, that's fairly simple Will the I drive knob lift with it? It's just clipped in and needs prying up?

Thats pretty much it, found this guide but it says the same thing basically: LINK

Nothing there about idrive though, Im sure Ive read somewhere that its just the one wire underneath you have to disconnect but cant say 100%.

Thanks all. Will attempt Tuesday. Sure it's simple but always good to have a bit of insider info when tackling these things
