"State inspection due" HELP!
Just got my 08 335i and when I changed the date to the proper one its telling me I am due for service. "State inspection due" and I have no clue what it means. The car tells me that it couldn't contact my local BMW dealer and I've been meaning to call them but I don't want to bring the car into them for unnecessary charges...
Any help would be greatly appreciated guys! J.D.

I live in GA and only require an emission test once a year when I renew the license. I realize this is the car telling me something, so maybe it is an emissions test....
Guess I should just contact a BMW dealer about it :/

The alert is for the state safety and/ or emissions. It is user reset-able. you can edit the date to when your next inspection is due via the i-Drive

Stop. This is not completely correct information. In the CBS there are two programmable inspections. One is for an annual saftey/roadworthiness inspection that some States require (not all 50 US Sates require an annual safety inspection). The other programmable inspection event is specifically for exhaust emissons inspection, which can varry by State, or even by county within a state, and can be an annual requirement or longer, or not required at all.
If you have neither one, then you can just set the date to some time way in the future so it never comes up as a reminder. My county does not require emissions inspection, so I've set my emissions inspection to May 2025. The trick I learned about the annual saftey inspection is that the CBS doesn't remind you until the last day of the month it is programmed for, which means it notifies you too late in the month (only gives you one-day notice). So what you should do is set the safety inspection date for the month before the month it is due, which lets you know ahead of time that the inspection is due during the next month coming up.
